Mental Health Support Assistant - Barnet - September 2026

A high-achieving boys secondary school in Barnet is seeking a Mental Health Support Assistant for September 2026. This role is ideal for a graduate looking to build a career in mental health, psychology, therapy, counselling, education or SEND.

Mental Health Support Assistant role paying £90-110 per day PAYE.

Full-time, term-time only contract from September 2026.

Excellent experience for a Psychology, Criminology, Counselling, Education or Mental Health graduate.

Work in a successful boys secondary school supporting pupils across Key Stages 3 and 4.

Gain direct experience supporting students with SEMH, anxiety, emotional regulation, low confidence, behaviour needs and social communication difficulties.

The school has a strong pastoral structure, with a clear focus on behaviour, safeguarding, academic progress and personal development.

As a Mental Health Support Assistant, you will provide 1:1 and small-group support across the school day.

The successful Mental Health Support Assistant will help students develop confidence, resilience, emotional awareness and positive learning behaviours.

Mental Health Support Assistant candidates must be calm, patient, emotionally intelligent and committed to safeguarding.

You will work closely with the SENCO, Heads of Year, pastoral staff, teachers, families and external professionals.

Previous experience with children or young people, SEND, mentoring, tutoring, youth work, care or mental health support is highly desirable.
