Job Purpose

As an Assistant Psychologist, you will play a key role in supporting the psychological and emotional well-being of our adult male service users. Working closely with the psychologist and multidisciplinary team, you will contribute to assessments, interventions, and ongoing care planning. You will also support key workers in delivering effective key working sessions and conduct audits to ensure the quality and compliance of our care standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Psychological Assessments and Interventions:
• Assist the psychologist in conducting assessments to understand the mental health and emotional needs of adults aged 18 to 65.
• Develop and implement evidence-based therapeutic interventions tailored to individual needs.
• Monitor and review the effectiveness of interventions and recommend adjustments as needed.
• Support Key Working Sessions:
• Provide guidance and support to key workers in planning and conducting key working sessions.
• Collaborate with key workers to ensure sessions are goal-oriented and aligned with individual care plans.
• Offer training and advice to key workers on managing challenging behaviours and promoting positive outcomes.
• Audits and Quality Assurance:
• Conduct regular audits of care plans, psychological intervention records, and key working session documentation.
• Identify areas for improvement and ensure compliance with regulatory and organisational standards.
• Provide feedback and recommendations to the team to enhance service delivery.
• Collaboration with the Multidisciplinary Team:
• Work closely with other team members, including the activities coordinator, psychologist, and support staff, to deliver holistic and integrated care.
• Participate in case reviews and team meetings to contribute to the development of comprehensive care strategies.
• Staff Training and Support:
• Deliver training sessions to staff on mental health awareness, psychological interventions, and best practices.
• Support staff in understanding the psychological needs of service users and provide on-the-job guidance.
• Record-Keeping and Reporting:
• Maintain detailed and confidential records of psychological assessments, interventions, and audits.
• Prepare reports to track progress, outcomes, and compliance with care standards.
• Ensure documentation is accurate, up-to-date, and aligned with organisational policies.
• Promoting Mental Health and Well-Being:
• Facilitate workshops and group activities aimed at promoting emotional resilience and coping skills among service users.
• Provide one-on-one support to service users as needed, under the supervision of the psychologist.

Qualifications and Skills

• A degree in Psychology (minimum 2:1 classification).
• At least one year of experience working with adults in mental health settings, such as supported living, inpatient care, or community mental health services.
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail for audits and record-keeping.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong organisational and time-management abilities.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
