Job Title: Warehouse and Fulfilment Assistant

Salary / Rate: £24,784 – £26,227 per year (dependent on experience)

Contracted Hours: Full time, 37.5 hours per week

Reporting to: Stock and Wholesale Managers

About the Role

Merchant & Mills, a market-leading retailer and wholesaler of fabric, haberdashery, and dressmaking patterns, is looking for a dynamic and versatile Warehouse and Fulfilment Assistant. This hybrid role combines responsibilities from both our wholesale fulfilment and warehouse stock teams, making it ideal for someone who thrives in a varied, hands-on environment.

You will work across goods-in, stock control, wholesale order fulfilment and dispatch, playing a central part in keeping our operations running smoothly and our customers happy.

Your Responsibilities

Warehouse and Stock Control

  • Receiving in pallet and van deliveries.
  • Ensuring cloth is stored appropriately and spaces are kept clear and tidy.
  • Goods-in inspection.
  • Reporting stock anomalies or queries to the stock team.
  • Support Stock Manager with stock control and interim checks.
  • Assisting with retail restocking when required.
  • Understanding and complying with Health & Safety procedures throughout the warehouse and yard.

Wholesale Fulfillment

  • Fulfilling cloth wholesale orders — picking stock, breaking down cloth, and packing orders. Inspecting quality and quantity during picking/packing.
  • Picking and packing notions and pattern orders.

About You

Essential

  • Positive, can-do attitude with an abundance of energy.
  • Ability to lift heavy rolls and boxes - manual handling is required.
  • Well organised, practical, and proactive.
  • Proven ability to multi-task and complete a variety of tasks to a high standard.
  • Good accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work flexibly and collaboratively within a busy team.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Full driving licence.
  • Reliable and trustworthy.

Desirable

  • Familiarity with our brand and products.
  • Experience working in online dispatch or warehouse environments.

  • Salary rising to £26,227 after successful completion of a 6-month probation.
