Associate Delivery Manager
Location: Milton Keynes
Salary: £53,761
This role is available full-time for 37 hours per week Monday to Friday or part-time with a minimum coverage of 28 hours. Flexible or compressed working hours available
This role is predominantly based in the office.
Can you support agile teams to deliver diverse, impactful projects, in an environment that really matters?
In the world of national security, your work will do exactly that. No two pieces of work are the same. Your adaptable approach will enable you to support the delivery of projects at pace, whether that’s a hands-on agile team role, a project, or a collection of smaller tasks and activities forming a system, programme or portfolio. You will facilitate delivery of small to medium projects or services.
You will be part of the delivery management team, working alongside other delivery professionals, including project managers and business analysts. You will leverage your knowledge in Project, Portfolio, or Delivery Management to support diverse teams, who bring unique perspectives and solutions to the most innovative challenges in national security. Your communication skills will be crucial in establishing and maintaining positive working relationships with stakeholders both internally and externally. You will be managing customer experiences as well as ensuring teams work collaboratively to deliver results fast.
This is a people-focussed role which involves building and maintaining relationships and translating organisational strategies into clear business outcomes and deliverables.
You’ll gain a unique perspective of our business, working closely with a broad range of teams to proactively enable the delivery of our organisation’s vision.
HMGCC is a corporate affiliate with the Association for Project Management (APM). As an established project, portfolio or delivery manager, you’ll have experience of delivery and management best practices and be able to support teams from day one. You will receive mentoring from our Delivery Managers and will be able to develop your career through training courses and professional accreditation – we invest in our people.
More about you
To apply for this role, you will already have:
- Experience in using a variety of tools, techniques, methodologies and best practices across the project management lifecycle.
- Successfully delivered medium projects or other objectives.
- The ability to influence others and move forward to a common vision or goal.
- A proven track record of delivery.
It would be beneficial if you have (although these are not essential):
- A level of professional accreditation and/or membership of a recognised project management body like APM.
Your personal skills
You will be someone who:
- Displays behaviours that promote a collaborative working environment which supports equality, diversity and inclusion.
- Has a track record of multiple successful deliveries.
- Understands deliveries/projects are unique and tailors your approach appropriately.
- Is curious and enjoys creative problem-solving, understands complex problems, and shapes innovative, practical solutions.
- Is committed to excellence, taking ownership to see projects through to a high standard.
- Works closely with stakeholders to understand their goals, builds relationships, clarifies expectations, and ensures successful outcomes.
- Values shared knowledge and joint success, helping teams to move forward with confidence.
- Can prioritise and manage your workload effectively, adapting to changing needs with flexibility and focus.
- Enjoys working with people with a diverse range of skills, sharing ideas about how to get the results needed.
- Is pro-active about maintaining and developing your knowledge and skills.
Putting your skills to use
Using your diverse range of skills within the delivery team, you will:
- Facilitate delivery without support or supervision of small/medium pieces of work.
- Deliver with confidence using a recognised delivery method.
- Maintain and enhance good stakeholder relations through effective communications, report progress and issues appropriately and effectively.
- Support the key stakeholders to identify and leverage benefits and improvements to processes, working in partnership with the team to plan how these will be achieved.
- Support risk management and assurance activities, successfully managing technical and commercial risks as part of successful delivery; preparing and maintaining delivery, quality and risk plans.
- Champion the use of best practice and tailor different delivery methodologies to the work being delivered.
- Identify obstacles and help teams to overcome them.
- Remain up to date on developments in the delivery and project management profession.
Now that we’ve explained a bit about what you will be doing, here’s what we can offer you:
- A positive, collaborative and inclusive work environment.
- 25 days annual leave, rising to 30 after 5 years’ service.
- 8 Bank Holiday days off in addition to your annual leave.
- 2 ½ additional days leave (set dates through the year).
- Pension. Our Pension scheme is Alpha. It’s competitive.
- Opportunities for development.
- Paid overtime or time off in lieu. Your salary is for your contracted hours. If you work more, we believe you should be rewarded for that.
- Flexible or compressed hours to support you to balance your life with your work.
- Paid parental and adoption leave and neonatal policy.
- Training. This can be anything from a ½ day internal course to a distant learning degree. If it’s relevant to your career, we will aim to support you.
- Opportunities for mentoring and coaching.
- Free secure parking and allocated parking for car shares.
- Affinity groups – whether you are a person with a disability, part of the LGBTQIA+ community and/or from an ethnic minority background, we provide an inclusive environment, support and a variety of networks for everyone.
- Free onsite gym, open 24 hours a day.
- Bike to work scheme.
- Multi-faith Prayer room. This is a quiet contemplation room for staff to use for prayer or reflection.
- 3 days paid leave a year to support a registered charity of your choice.
- Sports & Social Society. Whether its classic cars or baking, golf or crafting, we have a society for you. We offer regular subsidised theatre tickets and on-site activities.
- On site café and restaurant.
- On site nursery (subject to availability).
- New Joiner Loan*.
