Full job description
- Join our award winning team - We are currently hiring and looking for an experienced Managing Associate around 6+ PQE to join our Private Funds Group based in London.
- This is an exciting opportunity to play a central role in working closely with our UK and International Partners on the continued expansion of the team and practice, which will provide clear career progression opportunities at a pivotal stage in your career.
- Winner of Law Firm of the Year: Fund Structuring at the Private Equity Wire European Awards 2022, 2025, 2025 and 2026.
Our private funds group boasts exceptional experience from magic circle and top tier practices and is one of the UK's market-leading specialist practices advising on fund formation and fund investments.
The team advises a broad range of managers (from first time managers to established global institutions) on both onshore and offshore fund mandates, across all sectors but with particular strength in private equity, venture capital, real estate, infrastructure and debt. In addition to our experience supporting managers, we also advise a range of fund investors on their fund investments, from family offices to international organisations, pension funds and other institutional investors.
Our work is truly international in nature and the team in the UK frequently collaborates with colleagues in Europe, Asia and the Middle East on funds matters. We are active participants in key industry bodies such as INREV, BVCA and the Investment Association and regularly publish though leadership pieces and market insights such as our annual private funds trends report.
WHAT TO EXPECT IN THIS ROLEWe are looking to expand our high performing team which continues to win increasingly exciting and lucrative opportunities. We are keen to engage with lawyers who have an interest and experience in private funds.
- You will be expected to be client focused and thinking about how AI and other tools may be harnessed to improve the overall service.
- Fostering and growing client relationships and developing new ones is an integral part of this role. You can expect to collaborate not only with colleagues in the direct team but also with colleagues in other AG practice areas as well as colleagues immersed in relevant industry groups.
- Continuous self-development is valued, and you will be encouraged to engage with formal training programmes (whether technical or skills based) and to draw on mentoring, coaching and leadership development programmes available to you.

YOUR AREAS OF KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERTISETo be able to advise at the level required in this role, ideally you will have gained a minimum of 6 years' post qualification experience or equivalent in an investment funds practice with strong exposure to private funds work.
- Have a keen intellect and a commercial mind set. You will be able to demonstrate that you are able to provide pragmatic, robust and tailored advice in a way that supports internal and external clients alike
- Be able to actively support complex transactions, liaising and coordinating with fee earners from other relevant disciplines as needed
- Demonstrate confident negotiation skills, leading or supporting key negotiations with fund managers, investors and other parties
- Take day to day responsibility for matter conduct, with partner support on hand as and when required. The candidate will have solid experience drafting fund documentation, such as PPMs, LPAs and side letters
- Contribute to the general upkeep of the group (whether that be to training, precedents, or know-how generally)
- Have the enthusiasm to build relationships with clients and drive to establish their own network of business contacts to support both their own and the team's business development priorities, including contributing to the preparation and delivery of pitches to clients
- Display a knowledge of key areas of the law by providing clear, precise, practical advice and having excellent attention to detail
- Be self-aware, approachable and a team player, seeking out support when it is needed and helping identify when other team members need support and able to both deliver and act on constructive feedback
Our story of international growth is built on a performance mindset, innovation and true collaboration. We believe results follow relationships, so we work closely with each other, and develop deep client connections to deliver.
Our award-winning culture balances high standards and hard work with genuine care - looking out for each other, supporting professional development, in a down to earth and inclusive environment. We do the right things in the right ways, combining commercial excellence and innovative thinking with teamwork. Together, we deliver excellence, achieve stand out solutions, and enable career-defining opportunities.
