Your New Role
The English Transcriber Specialist supports the creation of English scripting and transcription deliverables for entertainment content, ensuring technical accuracy, consistency, and timely delivery within WBD’s localization lifecycle. The role applies foundational knowledge of scripting, accessibility materials, and entertainment media content while working within established processes, tools, and specifications.
The English Transcriber Specialist is part of a collaborative team supporting global localization and accessibility initiatives across film, television, streaming, and other entertainment media content. The role focuses on accurate transcription, consistent formatting, quality execution, and ongoing skill development while adapting to evolving technologies and workflows.
If you have experience transcribing, captioning, or creating accessibility materials for entertainment media content and are looking to contribute to global content localization, we encourage you to apply.
This role supports highly confidential content and therefore requires regular on-site attendance to work on secure projects.
Key Responsibilities...
-
The English Transcriber Specialist is responsible for creating English transcription and scripting deliverables, including but not limited to Spotting Lists, English Dialogue Lists, Closed Captions (CCAP), English SDH (Subtitles for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing), and English Templates.
-
The role utilizes WBD-approved in-house tools to transcribe episodic, catalog, and internally approved content. Responsibilities include attentively listening to audio recordings and video content to accurately transcribe spoken dialogue, narration, and relevant audio cues.
-
The English Transcriber Specialist captures required scripted events such as on-screen text, speaker identification, on- and off-screen indicators, scene descriptions where applicable, and basic annotation including sensitive events. The role performs self-review and proofreading to ensure transcripts are free of grammatical, spelling, punctuation, and formatting errors.
-
Additional responsibilities include researching names, terminology, locations, and references using approved sources; applying WBD formatting standards and templates consistently; escalating unclear audio or creative ambiguities to the appropriate reviewer; maintaining confidentiality for sensitive or restricted content.
-
Coordinate assigned workload; meet established deadlines; maintain required quality standards for accuracy and speed; coordinate with team members on daily assignments; and use internal tracking tools for work queue management.
-
All work must comply with brand standards, departmental needs, and applicable.
Qualifications & Experience...
-
Hands-on experience in transcription, captioning, scripting, accessibility, timed text, or a related field within the entertainment media, broadcast, streaming, or post-production industry.
-
Experience using transcription, captioning, or subtitling software is required.
-
Experience working with film, television, streaming, or other entertainment media content is required.
-
The role requires a strong command of written English, including grammar, spelling, punctuation, and usage, as well as excellent listening skills to accurately transcribe spoken content.
-
Must demonstrate attention to detail, the ability to follow established specifications and workflows, solid formatting and proofreading skills, and the ability to research and fact-check information.
-
Proficiency with productivity and collaboration tools is expected, along with the ability to collaborate effectively with internal peers.
-
The role requires the ability to coordinate time and priorities in a deadline-driven environment, adapt to changing production needs, and learn new tools, systems, and technical processes.
Not Required but preferred experience:
Typing speed of 60–75 words per minute is preferred.
