Overview
We are seeking an assistant manager for a mechanical garage setting, to join our small but well established team. The applicant must be a skilled and dedicated Mechanic that can offer support to the current management system with pricing, customer contact and general day to day responsibilities. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining, repairing, and troubleshooting a variety of vehicles across our operation as well as pricing/invoicing jobs and speaking to customers. This role requires experience in light vehicle mechanics, with the ability to work independently and efficiently. The position offers an excellent opportunity for individuals with hands-on experience in the motor vehicle trade in a really busy garage with a full diary of customers on a daily basis.

Responsibilities

  • To be able to repair light vehicles to a high standard. This includes all types of vehicle mechanics namely, brakes, tyres, belts and engines and other components.
  • To be able to service vehicles, change oil and filters.
  • To work efficiently in a small team environment.
  • To price jobs sufficiently and invoice completed works.
  • To take payments and be a trusted cash handler.
  • To show innovation and offer new ways to create business and increase revenue.

Skills

  • Proven experience in a mechanical garage.
  • Proficiency in all areas of light vehicle repairs.
  • Ability to diagnose vehicle issues and offer a viable repair solution to the customer.
  • Skilled in the use of hand tools, power tools, and specialised equipment for assembly and repair tasks
  • Capable of performing heavy lifting safely while adhering to manual handling guidelines
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with attention to detail
  • Customer service orientation with effective communication skills
