Full job description

Join a well-renowned college near Gloucester and make a meaningful difference supporting students with diverse learning needs in subjects ranging from animal management to music.

I am delighted to be working in close partnership with a large college based in Gloucester supporting them in their recruitment of learning support workers for September and this full academic year 2026-2027.

This well-renowned college near Newent, on the outskirts of Gloucester is looking for full-time learning support workers to start from Monday 14th September and continue until June / July 2027.

The hours will be between 30-35 hours per week usually Monday to Friday 09.00-16.00 / 08.30 - 16.30 or similar and the pay will be between £14.25 and £16.00 per hour (dependent on previous experience) paid weekly, a week in arrears.

There are numerous subjects the college is looking for support workers to support their students in and these range from Animal management, sport and mechanics to agriculture and music as examples and the support will entail a mixture of theory and practical based support, both on a 1-1 and small group basis.

The students requiring support are those with mild learning difficulties, Social, Emotional and mental health difficulties (SEMH), Autism, ADHD and other learning difficulties. All the students have each asked for support and know the benefits of having 1-1 / more focused support and so will be engaging with the extra support given.

Requirements:
The college and I are looking for people with the following attributes:

  • Passionate about education particularly Further Education
  • A hobby / interest such as sports, music, animals
  • An adaptable and approachable attitude
  • Prior experience either personally or professionally with SEND - special educational needs and disabilities
  • Reliable, hardworking and committed

As the college is keen to secure the right support asap, if you are interested, have the right attributes as highlighted above and feel you would be a great support to the college, please apply through Indeed.

Successful candidates will then have an initial call with myself before being invited to attend an interview with myself and the relevant learning support manager from the college. From here, you will go through our clearance process and be ready to start as close to Monday 14th September 2026 latest.
