Are you passionate about education and supporting young people who may need a different approach to learning?
We are looking for caring, resilient and enthusiastic Teaching Assistants to work across alternative provision and behavioural settings in Caerphilly.
This is a fantastic opportunity to support young people who may have faced challenges within mainstream education, helping them re-engage with learning, develop confidence and build positive relationships within a structured and supportive environment.
You'll work alongside experienced teachers and education staff, providing individual and small-group support to pupils who may display challenging behaviour or require additional support to access education.
Your role as a Teaching Assistant:
- Support pupils to engage with learning and education
- Provide 1:1 and small-group support under the direction of the class teacher
- Build positive, trusting relationships with young people
- Encourage positive behaviour and help pupils develop emotional regulation
- Support pupils to develop confidence, independence and social skills
- Help create a calm, safe and structured learning environment
- Assist with classroom activities and educational programmes
- Work closely with teachers and support staff as part of a school-based team
- Encourage young people to recognise their strengths and work towards their individual goals
What we offer:
- £14.25 per hour, paid weekly
- Monday–Friday, 8:30am–3:30pm school hours
- Flexible ad hoc and daily Teaching Assistant opportunities

- September school-based opportunities now available
- Potential for the role to become permanent after 12 weeks

About you:
- Passionate about education and supporting young people
- Patient, resilient, calm and adaptable
- Confident managing challenging behaviour in a positive and consistent way
- Interested in working within alternative provision or behavioural settings
- Previous experience in education, youth work, care, support work or similar settings is desirable but not essential
- A willingness to learn and undertake relevant training
- Reliable and confident working as part of a supportive education team
