The role
As a Health and Safety (H&S) Practitioner Infrastructure Compliance, you will provide expert guidance across infrastructure and facilities, ensuring compliance with legislation and driving continuous improvement in safety performance. You will play a key role in shaping a proactive safety culture, supporting operational teams, and making a meaningful impact on national defence capabilities.
Day-to-day, you will be responsible for:
Providing professional health and safety advice to operational teams and stakeholders
Conducting workplace inspections and assessments to identify hazards and improve safety standards
Leading investigations into incidents and near misses, identifying root causes and recommending actions
Supporting audits and ensuring corrective and preventative actions are implemented effectively
Engaging with teams and committees to promote best practice and continuous improvement
The role is full time, 37 hours per week, based on-site at HMNB Clyde, working an eight-day fortnight - day shift Monday to Thursday, plus every second Friday, working from 7.15am to 4.45pm.
Essential experience of the H&S Practitioner Infrastructure Compliance:
Proven experience in a Health & Safety role within facilities management, construction, or infrastructure environments
Strong background in statutory compliance and building compliance, with the ability to interpret and apply H&S legislation in operational settings
Experience supporting or working within construction/Construction, Design and Management (CDM) environments, including contractor and site safety management
Experience conducting audits, inspections, and incident investigations
Experience working with safety management systems and reporting tools
Qualifications for the H&S Practitioner Infrastructure Compliance:
NEBOSH General Certificate (essential)
Working towards a Health and Safety degree or NEBOSH Diploma (desirable)
Security Clearance
The successful candidate must be a sole UK National who is able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.

This means that your eligibility for certain roles may be affected by your place of birth, nationality, current or former citizenship, and any residency you hold or have held.
