Back End Developer
Redruth, Cornwall - Onsite
£30,000 - £37,500 depending on experience
Permanent | Full Time
Build technology that makes a real difference.
At The Dash Group, technology isn't tucked away in a corner of the business.
It's at the heart of how we operate.
From logistics and vehicle solutions to fulfilment and e-commerce, our teams rely on a suite of bespoke applications that help us work smarter, provide exceptional service and support our continued growth. We're now looking for a Back End Developer to join our Head Office team in Redruth and help shape the next generation of our systems.
If you're someone who enjoys solving problems, building reliable systems and seeing the tangible impact of your work, we'd love to hear from you.
Why join The Dash Group?
We're a growing South West business with ambitious plans, but we're equally proud of the culture we've built along the way.
We believe great ideas can come from anywhere. We value curiosity, collaboration and kindness, and we're committed to creating an environment where people feel supported, respected and able to do their best work.
This is an opportunity to join a business where your voice will be heard and where you'll have the freedom to contribute, innovate and make a genuine difference.
The opportunity
Working closely with our Technical Director and Front-End Developer, you'll help maintain, develop and improve the server-side systems that underpin our internal applications and future SaaS ambitions.
This role offers a great mix of hands-on development, problem-solving and collaboration. You'll gain exposure to multiple business areas and have the chance to create solutions that directly support colleagues and customers across the Group.
Some of the things you'll be involved in include:
- Developing and supporting business-critical web applications.
- Designing and optimising databases to improve performance and scalability.
- Building and maintaining APIs and third-party integrations.
- Supporting WooCommerce and e-commerce functionality.
- Collaborating with stakeholders to understand challenges and create practical solutions.
- Identifying opportunities to improve systems, processes and user experiences.
- Contributing to the long-term development of our technology platform.
What we're looking for
We're less interested in finding someone who ticks every box and more interested in finding someone who is passionate about technology, enjoys learning and wants to make an impact.
You'll ideally have experience with:
- PHP and object-oriented programming.
- MariaDB or similar relational databases.
- API development and system integrations.
- HTTP, JSON and related technologies.
- Version control tools such as Git.
You'll also be:
- A natural problem solver.
- Curious and keen to understand how a business works.
- Someone who takes pride in writing reliable, maintainable code.
- Comfortable working with both technical and non-technical colleagues.
- Collaborative, approachable and positive in how you work with others.
Experience with WooCommerce, e-commerce platforms or operational business systems would be a bonus, but it's not essential.
What you'll get in return
- Competitive salary of £30,000 - £37,500 depending on experience.
- 5.6 weeks holiday entitlement, increasing with length of service.
- Ongoing training and development opportunities.
- Employee discounts on vehicle rentals, hampers and more.
- The opportunity to work on meaningful projects that have a direct impact on the business.
A final thought
We know that great developers don't always apply for jobs unless they meet every requirement.
If this role excites you and you believe you could make a positive contribution, we'd encourage you to apply — even if your experience doesn't match every point on the list.
We're looking for capability, potential and a great attitude just as much as technical expertise.
Pay: £30,000.00-£37,500.00 per year
Work Location: In person
