Bakery Team Leader / Supervisor

About the Role

At DoughGirl, we're passionate about creating exceptional cookies, cookie pies and baked treats that our customers love. As a Bakery Team Leader, you'll play a key role in leading the production team, ensuring products are made to the highest quality standards whilst maintaining a safe, efficient and positive working environment.

You'll lead by example, motivating your team to achieve daily production targets, maintain outstanding food safety standards and continuously improve the way we work.

This is a hands-on role where you'll spend the majority of your time on the bakery floor supporting your team and ensuring production runs smoothly.

Key ResponsibilitiesTeam Leadership

  • Lead, motivate and support the bakery production team.
  • Set the standard by leading through example.
  • Allocate daily tasks and manage workloads effectively.
  • Coach and develop team members to improve skills and confidence.
  • Conduct daily team briefings and communicate production priorities.
  • Support the induction and training of new starters.
  • Monitor attendance, timekeeping and performance.
  • Foster a positive, respectful and collaborative working environment.

Production

  • Ensure daily production plans are completed accurately and on time.
  • Monitor productivity throughout each shift.
  • Ensure recipes and production processes are followed consistently.
  • Minimise waste through careful planning and stock control.
  • Ensure all products meet DoughGirl's quality standards.
  • Identify production issues quickly and implement solutions.
  • Work closely with other departments to ensure smooth operations.

Quality & Food Safety

  • Ensure compliance with Food Safety, HACCP and company procedures.
  • Carry out quality checks throughout production.
  • Ensure accurate completion of production paperwork.
  • Maintain excellent housekeeping standards.
  • Promote a clean, organised and safe bakery at all times.
  • Ensure all allergen controls are followed correctly.
  • Escalate any quality or food safety concerns immediately.

Health & Safety

  • Promote a strong health and safety culture.
  • Ensure safe use of equipment and machinery.
  • Report hazards, accidents and near misses.
  • Ensure PPE is worn correctly where required.
  • Carry out routine equipment checks.

Continuous Improvement

  • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency.
  • Support new product launches and process improvements.
  • Help reduce waste and improve productivity.
  • Encourage ideas and feedback from the team.

What We're Looking For Essential

  • Previous experience within a commercial bakery or food manufacturing environment.
  • Previous experience leading or supervising a team.
  • Strong organisational skills.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • High attention to detail.
  • Good problem-solving ability.
  • Positive and enthusiastic attitude.
  • Understanding of food hygiene and food safety requirements.
  • Flexible approach to working hours when required.

Desirable

  • Level 2 or Level 3 Food Hygiene qualification.
  • HACCP knowledge.
  • Experience of KPI monitoring.
  • Experience working with production planning systems.
  • First Aid qualification.
