About the Role

We are currently seeking an ambitious and detail-oriented Finance Assistant to join our small but busy team in Glasgow. This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to a successful and growing property management business.

As Finance Assistant, you will work closely with the Director and Office Manager, performing a key role in managing the day-to-day financial operations of the company. You will support all aspects of financial administration and help ensure the smooth and efficient running of the business.

This is a challenging yet rewarding position, requiring strong numerical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage a varied workload.

Key Responsibilities

  • Processing daily rental income using the PayProp banking platform and actively managing rent arrears
  • Creating and issuing invoices, monitoring payments, and chasing overdue amounts
  • Processing and paying contractor invoices in a timely and accurate manner
  • Accurately recording all financial transactions using QuickBooks accounting software
  • Managing payroll, including salaries, P45, P60, P11D, pension contributions, and liaising with HMRC
  • Preparing and submitting quarterly VAT returns
  • Ensuring payments due from Non-Resident Landlords are made in accordance with HMRC requirements
  • Reconciling bank accounts
  • Managing petty cash and processing staff expenses

Key Requirements

  • Previous experience in a finance or accounts role
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Good working knowledge of accounting software (QuickBooks preferred)
  • Ability to manage workload and meet deadlines
  • Strong organisational and communication skills
  • An understanding of the private rented sector would be advantageous
