Assistant Manager

The Role

We’re looking for an experienced, energetic and ambitious Assistant Manager to join our team in Harrogate.

This is a hands-on management role covering both hotel and restaurant operations, ideal for someone who loves being on the floor, leading from the front and creating memorable guest experiences.

You’ll support the day-to-day running of the business while taking real ownership for service standards, team performance, sales, labour control, compliance and the overall guest journey.

Key Responsibilities Operations & Guest Experience

• Support the smooth day-to-day running of the hotel, restaurant and bar.
• Lead busy services and ensure consistently high standards.
• Take ownership of the guest journey, from arrival through to departure.
• Handle guest feedback, complaints and special requests professionally and efficiently.
• Ensure the team consistently delivers the Provenance steps of service.
• Identify opportunities to improve guest satisfaction, loyalty and repeat business.

Leadership & Team Development

• Lead from the front and create a positive, high-performing team culture.
• Motivate, coach and develop team members through regular feedback and on-the-job training.
• Maintain strong communication across restaurant, bar, kitchen, housekeeping and hotel operations.
• Support effective rota planning and ensure the right people are deployed at the right times.
• Set clear expectations and ensure agreed standards are consistently delivered.

Commercial Performance

• Support the delivery of sales, labour and profitability targets.
• Monitor labour against forecast and flex rotas appropriately.
• Drive sales through excellent service, upselling and strong product knowledge.
• Support stock control, cost management and forecasting.
• Identify opportunities to grow revenue and improve operational efficiency.
• Take ownership of agreed KPIs and contribute to the overall financial performance of the business.

Standards, Health & Safety & Compliance

• Maintain excellent standards of presentation, cleanliness and service throughout the business.
• Ensure compliance with Health & Safety, food safety, licensing and hygiene requirements.
• Work closely with kitchen, housekeeping and maintenance teams to maintain high operational standards.
• Ensure procedures and company standards are followed consistently.

About You

We’re looking for someone who:

• Has previous supervisory or management experience within a hotel, restaurant, pub or premium hospitality environment.
• Has a genuine passion for hospitality and delivering exceptional guest experiences.
• Is confident leading a team and taking responsibility for busy shifts.
• Has strong commercial awareness, particularly around sales, labour and cost control.
• Understands the importance of compliance, Health & Safety and consistently high operating standards.
• Is organised, proactive and confident solving problems.
• Has excellent communication and people-management skills.
• Is motivated by clear targets and measurable results.
• Can work flexibly across evenings, weekends and key trading periods.
• Has experience with systems such as Zonal and table management platforms, although this would be advantageous rather than essential.
