Description
Silverstone, the home of British motorsport, is looking for a Communications Manager to lead day-to-day communications delivery across our diverse portfolio of events and experiences. This is a hands-on role for an experienced communications professional who enjoys turning a brief into an impactful campaign, with the confidence to make decisions and see projects through independently. Working within the strategic direction set by the marketing leadership team, you’ll bring strong B2C campaign experience alongside the ability to support our B2B communications. Your background could span sport, entertainment, lifestyle or leisure; motorsport expertise is welcome, but curiosity and a willingness to immerse yourself in our world are just as valuable. You’ll build on our established motorsport media relationships while developing new connections that showcase everything Silverstone has to offer, on and beyond the track.
Silverstone is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and adults at risk and expects all team members and volunteers to share this commitment. Background checks and DBS checks at the appropriate level will be obtained prior to employment commencing.
Key Responsibilities
Key Opportunities
- Unparalleled Events: Be at the forefront of promoting some of the most thrilling events in the world, including the legendary Formula 1 British Grand Prix, which attracts over 480,000 fans across four electrifying days. Oversee a calendar packed with over 40 high-octane racing events and showcase Silverstone as the beating heart of motorsport excitement.
- Year-Round Leisure Experiences: Take charge of the communications plan for Silverstone's incredible 52-week leisure offering, including driving on the famous circuit, behind-the-scenes tours, karting, race simulators, and retail experiences. Your vision will ensure Silverstone is a year-round leisure destination and that every visitor leaves with memories to treasure.
- A World-Class Business Destination: Leverage Silverstone's unique dual offering as a versatile conference and exhibition venue combined with the iconic backdrop of a Formula 1 circuit. Help businesses create exceptional events and bring their ideas to life in one of the UK's most extraordinary settings.
- Premium Trackside Accommodation: Showcase exceptional hospitality options, Escapade Silverstone residences, restaurant and bar, and our luxury glamping site accommodating up to 350 tents during major events. Create compelling campaigns that attract guests to these standout accommodations.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee cross-channel communications campaigns from strategy to delivery for all Silverstone products such as the British Grand Prix, MotoGP and Silverstone Festival, as well as Escapade and Leisure products, ensuring every campaign meets timelines, budgets, and maximises publicity opportunities.
- Manage the delivery of the organisation's communications strategy and engagement plan across a variety of audience stakeholder groups, both external and internal.
- Protect and enhance Silverstone's reputation and brand through a combination of proactive and reactive communications, including issues management and crisis communications.
- Proactively identify and secure media coverage opportunities across all Silverstone products including motorsport, lifestyle, travel, hospitality and entertainment media.
- Manage external support from both agencies and consultants to coordinate campaigns effectively.
- Proactively cultivate and maintain strong relationships with media and industry partners to secure positive coverage and collaborations.
- Field and manage enquiries from local, national and international media and maintain contact details, media lists and the messaging database.
- Coordinate and distribute media announcements, including releases, statements, briefing documents and fact sheets, in close collaboration with internal stakeholders.
- Create regular coverage reports to showcase the success of campaigns.
- Monitor industry trends and make appropriate recommendations regarding communication strategy surrounding them.
- Manage the delivery of the organisation's day-to-day communications function, including planning, sourcing and creating content for a variety of channels and events.
- Curate experience visits across the hotels for key media, ensuring they receive bespoke experiences.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
- Demonstrable experience in proactively executing impactful B2B campaigns alongside strong B2C execution across a wide range of product offerings.
- Exceptional project management skills to juggle priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to build relationships and influence stakeholders at all levels, both internal and external.
- Forward thinking with a strong grasp of market trends and the digital landscape, with a focus on leading an innovative marketing team.
- Creative flair with excellent written and verbal skills.
- Team player who can also work autonomously.
