Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced and commercially minded General Manager to lead a large, established bar and entertainment venue in Inverness city centre.

This is a senior, hands-on leadership role with responsibility for the overall performance of the business, including sales, profitability, people, customer experience and day-to-day operations.

We are looking for someone who can take genuine ownership of the venue: building and developing a strong management team, maintaining excellent operational standards, controlling costs and identifying opportunities to grow revenue and improve profitability.

The successful candidate will be comfortable operating in a busy, fast-paced hospitality environment and will combine strong people leadership with sound commercial judgement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Take overall responsibility for the day-to-day operation and commercial performance of the venue
  • Lead, motivate and develop the management team and wider workforce
  • Drive sales and identify opportunities to increase revenue and profitability
  • Manage labour costs, stock, margins and other key operating costs
  • Recruit, train and retain a high-performing team
  • Set clear expectations and hold managers and team members accountable for performance
  • Maintain consistently high standards of customer service and venue presentation
  • Oversee rotas and staffing levels to ensure the business is appropriately resourced
  • Monitor financial and operational KPIs and report regularly to the owners
  • Ensure compliance with licensing, health & safety and all other relevant regulatory requirements
  • Handle customer issues professionally and maintain a strong customer-focused culture
  • Work closely with the owners while having the autonomy to manage the venue effectively

About You

We are looking for someone with:

  • Significant management experience within hospitality, leisure, entertainment or another high-volume customer-facing operation
  • Experience managing and developing a sizeable team
  • Strong commercial awareness and an understanding of P&L, labour costs, margins and stock control
  • A proven ability to improve operational performance and drive results
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills
  • The confidence to make decisions and take ownership of the operation
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to remain composed in a busy environment
  • Experience within bars, late-night hospitality or entertainment venues would be advantageous, but is not essential

Because of the nature of the business, the successful candidate will need to be flexible and available to work evenings and weekends when required.

What We Offer

  • £45,000–£48,000 salary, depending on experience
  • Bonus scheme
  • Significant autonomy and responsibility for a major Inverness hospitality operation
  • The opportunity to make a genuine impact on the performance and development of an established business
  • A varied role combining people leadership, operations and commercial management
