The Role:

As General Manager, you’ll be responsible for ensuring Flamingo operates to the highest standards every day. You’ll build a positive team culture, drive sales and profitability, maintain exceptional service standards and continually look for opportunities to improve the business.

You’ll work closely with the owners and senior leadership team while having the autonomy to make decisions that help the business grow.

Key Responsibilities:

Leadership:

* Recruit, train, coach and develop a high-performing team.
* Create a positive, motivated and accountable culture.
* Lead by example during service.
* Manage rotas, labour costs and staffing levels.
* Conduct regular one-to-ones, performance reviews and team meetings.

Guest Experience:

* Deliver exceptional customer service at every opportunity.
* Handle guest feedback professionally and resolve issues quickly.
* Ensure consistently high standards of food, drinks and presentation.
* Create a welcoming atmosphere that keeps guests coming back.

Financial Performance:

* Drive sales, profitability and business growth.
* Manage labour and wage percentages.
* Control stock, ordering and wastage.
* Deliver agreed GP and financial targets.
* Analyse weekly performance and implement improvement plans.

Operations:

* Ensure smooth day-to-day operation across all trading periods.
* Maintain excellent standards of cleanliness, maintenance and organisation.
* Ensure compliance with food safety, licensing and health & safety legislation.
* Manage opening and closing procedures.
* Oversee stocktakes and inventory management.

Marketing & Community:

* Support local marketing initiatives and events.
* Work with the marketing team to maximise social media opportunities.
* Build relationships within the Ashley Cross community.
* Identify opportunities to increase midweek trade and repeat business.

What We’re Looking For:

* Minimum 3 years’ experience as a General Manager or Senior Manager in a busy hospitality environment.
* Strong leadership and people development skills.
* Commercially aware with a proven ability to drive sales and profit.
* Passion for great food, speciality coffee, cocktails and hospitality.
* Excellent organisational and communication skills.
* Calm under pressure with strong problem-solving ability.
* High standards and attention to detail.
* Flexible to work evenings, weekends and key trading periods.

Desirable Experience:

* Premium casual dining or café bar experience.
* Cocktail-led venue management.
* Experience managing budgets, P&L and labour costs.
* Personal Licence holder (preferred but not essential).

What We Offer:

* Competitive salary.
* Performance-related bonus.
* Opportunities for career progression within Aviary Hospitality.
* Staff discounts across our venues.
* Ongoing training and development.
* A supportive, ambitious and passionate team environment.

Our Values:

We believe hospitality is about making people feel welcome. We’re looking for someone who genuinely cares about people, leads with integrity, enjoys being part of the service, and takes pride in creating memorable experiences for every guest.

If you’re passionate about building successful teams, delivering exceptional hospitality and growing a thriving neighbourhood venue, we’d love to hear from you.
