Food & Drink Service Manager The Eccleston Arms Bar & Grill, St Helens

The Eccleston Arms Bar & Grill is an elegant, modern venue at the heart of St Helens—serving Mediterranean‑inspired dishes, classic Sunday roasts, and crowd‑pleasing cocktails within a beautifully styled restaurant. With breakfast from 7:30am daily, a busy lunch and dinner service, and popular experiences like Bottomless Brunch, Afternoon Tea, and live entertainment, we’re known locally for warm hospitality, excellent food and drink, and “simple things done beautifully.”

We’re looking for a hands‑on Food & Drink Service Manager to lead front‑of‑house service across breakfast, main restaurant, Sunday roasts, bar, and events. You’ll set the tone for guest experience, coach our brilliant team, and make sure service runs smoothly and profitably—day in, day out. We are looking for someone who can bring the personality alongside the skills.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead daily FOH operations across restaurant and bar, maintaining high standards of service, speed, and presentation.
  • Schedule, train, and develop the team; run briefings; uphold standards for grooming, product knowledge, and guest care.
  • Floor‑manage peak periods (evenings/weekends), actively support service, and resolve guest issues with warmth and professionalism.
  • Partner with the kitchen to coordinate covers, manage pacing, and deliver consistent food quality
  • Drive sales through menu knowledge, upselling, cocktail and wine recommendations, and promotional activity (e.g., Bottomless Brunch, Afternoon Tea).
  • Support events and private hire from setup to service, ensuring smooth delivery and great feedback.
  • Ensure full compliance with licensing, health & safety, HACCP/food hygiene, and allergen procedures.

About you

  • Proven FOH leadership in a busy restaurant/bar, hotel brasserie, or gastropub environment.
  • Strong floor presence with excellent people skills—calm under pressure, solution‑focused, guest‑obsessed.
  • Good commercial acumen: labour management, cost awareness, and quality standards.
  • Confident with cocktails, wine and beer range
