Full job description

We’re looking for an experienced, confident Shift Supervisor / First Assistant Manager to join our small, established team at The Travellers Rest.

This is a hands-on role for someone who can lead a busy shift, support the team and take ownership – not just hold the keys.

What we need

  • Previous supervisory or management experience in a busy pub, bar or restaurant
  • Confident running shifts and making decisions
  • Strong FOH standards and genuinely great customer service
  • Comfortable leading, supporting and developing a predominantly young team
  • Organised, reliable and able to spot what needs doing without being asked
  • Confident handling bookings, cashing up and the usual day-to-day realities of running a pub
  • Able to work closely with the kitchen and keep service running smoothly
  • Calm under pressure – particularly when everybody suddenly decides to arrive at once
  • Willing to get stuck in. If the team is carrying plates, clearing tables or polishing glasses, so are we.

The person

We care far more about attitude, judgement and leadership than management buzzwords.

We want someone who sets the standard by doing it, looks after the team, cares about our guests and treats the pub like it matters.

In return, you’ll be joining a close-knit team where you’ll have real responsibility, input and the opportunity to develop further.
