Full job description

About Thanks For Coming

At Thanks For Coming, hospitality comes first.

We are a small independent cocktail bar built around genuine interaction, knowledgeable service and consistently excellent drinks.

We are looking for someone who wants more than another supervisor title. This is an opportunity to take real responsibility, improve how the bar operates and contribute to the future of an independent business.

About the role

This is a hands-on supervisory position.

You will work alongside the team during service—making drinks, hosting guests, serving tables, solving problems and maintaining the standards that define TFC.

You will be part of a small supervisory team with shared responsibility for:

  • Leading service
  • Maintaining drink and service standards
  • Solving problems during busy shifts
  • Improving systems and procedures
  • Delivering a consistent guest experience
  • Supporting the smooth operation of the venue

Depending on your strengths and experience, you may also take particular ownership of an area such as:

  • Bar operations
  • Floor service
  • Guest hosting

This is not a management role removed from day-to-day service. Leadership at TFC happens alongside the team and in direct contact with guests.

What you will do

  • Deliver warm, knowledgeable and attentive hospitality
  • Lead by example during service
  • Maintain high standards across drinks, service and presentation
  • Give clear direction during busy shifts
  • Take responsibility for decisions and service standards
  • Give and receive constructive feedback
  • Identify recurring problems and help improve systems
  • Support opening, closing and general operational responsibilities
  • Communicate clearly with the owner and supervisory team
  • Contribute ideas while supporting agreed standards and decisions
  • Help create a positive and accountable working environment

What we are looking for - Essential

  • Previous hospitality experience
  • Confident and natural communication with guests
  • Calm and composed under pressure
  • Comfortable taking responsibility and making decisions
  • Comfortable giving and receiving feedback
  • Willing to work hands-on alongside the team
  • Available to work Friday, Saturday and Sunday
  • Comfortable working late-night hospitality shifts
  • Reliable transport home after late finishes

We would also value

  • Cocktail or bar experience
  • Previous supervisory or leadership responsibility
  • Strong floor-service or hosting experience
  • Experience improving systems or standards
  • Genuine interest in hospitality rather than simply bartending
  • Leadership potential, even without a formal management title

Who this role will suit

This role will suit someone who:

  • Enjoys busy, guest-facing service
  • Wants genuine responsibility rather than just a job title
  • Is comfortable being accountable for standards
  • Can support another supervisor when they are leading
  • Likes improving how a business operates
  • Understands that good hospitality depends on consistency, attention and practical work

What we offer

  • A permanent position within a small independent business
  • Real responsibility and influence
  • The opportunity to help shape systems, standards and team culture
  • Ongoing development in hospitality, leadership, drinks and operations
  • High standards without unnecessary hierarchy
  • A workplace where ideas are welcomed, discussed and put into practice

Application

Please apply with your CV and a short introduction explaining:

  • Your hospitality experience
  • Your current availability
  • Why this role interests you
  • Which area—bar, floor or hosting—you feel most confident in

Pay: £14.00 per hour

Work Location: In person
