Experienced Waiter / Waitress – Full & Part-Time Positions

Locations: Ollie’s, Portofino & TIDES – Torquay

We are looking for experienced Waiters / Waitresses to join our front-of-house teams across our three family-run restaurants in Torquay: Ollie’s, Portofino and TIDES.

We have full-time and part-time positions available and are looking for confident, personable people who already have good restaurant experience and genuinely enjoy hospitality.

The Role

You’ll be responsible for providing friendly, professional and attentive service while working as part of a busy front-of-house team.

We’re looking for applicants who are already confident in:

  • Providing excellent table service
  • Taking orders accurately and efficiently
  • Opening and serving bottled wine at the table
  • Carrying three plates confidently
  • Carrying and serving from a drinks tray
  • Making and serving drinks
  • Working efficiently during busy services
  • Maintaining excellent presentation and service standards
  • Communicating confidently with guests
  • Having a good basic knowledge of food and wine

Cocktail-making experience is preferred and would be a great advantage.

We are a proud family-run independent restaurant group with three individual venues in Torquay:

Ollie’s – Torwood Street
Modern British dining with a focus on quality local produce, steaks, seafood and regularly changing seasonal dishes.

Portofino – Wellswood
A busy Italian-inspired restaurant and bar serving breakfast, lunch and dinner.

TIDES – Abbey Sands
Our seafront restaurant specialising in fresh, locally sourced produce, fish and seafood.

Although each restaurant has its own personality, they all share the same focus: great food, excellent service and making our guests feel genuinely welcome.

Who We’re Looking For

  • Have previous restaurant waiting experience
  • Are confident and professional with customers
  • Have a genuine passion for food, drink and hospitality
  • Are reliable, hardworking and a strong team player
  • Can remain calm and organised during busy services
  • Are willing to learn and develop your skills
  • Take pride in delivering excellent customer service

We want our front-of-house team to understand what’s on the plate, confidently talk guests through our menus and make recommendations rather than simply take orders.

Full training will be provided to learn our menus and our way of working, but previous waiting experience and strong basic service skills are essential for this position.
