About the Role

Bella is a vibrant, high-energy cocktail bar in the heart of Swansea’s Wind Street, designed as a place where guests come to switch off, let loose and have a great time. Set across two floors with a dedicated karaoke bar upstairs, Bella combines standout cocktails, bold visuals and a playful, tongue-in-cheek atmosphere to create an unforgettable night out. We are a fun, confident and welcoming brand with a strong focus on guest experience, safety and atmosphere. As General Manager, you will be the driving force behind bringing the Bella personality to life every night, leading a high-performing team, and ensuring the venue consistently delivers memorable experiences for birthdays, hen parties, nights out and everything in between.

Bella is part of an independent hospitality company that owns and operates multiple bar and restaurant venues across Cardiff and Swansea. Founded in 2010, we’ve built on our combined knowledge and creativity to launch several successful bars and restaurants: BrewStone, Bambu, Peppermint and Frango which are some of the most popular and unique venues in South Wales, as well as ventures in property management, security and cleaning.

Not only do we want you to be right for us, but we need to be right for you too and to help answer that question here's what you need to know. We're seeking an experienced General Manager to take full ownership and accountability for the operations, financial performance, and team management. This is a hands-on leadership role where you will be responsible for delivering exceptional guest experiences, driving revenue growth, and fostering a high-performing team culture.

As a General Manager, you will be measured on key business objectives, including revenue targets, cost controls, guest satisfaction, compliance, and team development. You will report directly to the Head of Operations and be responsible for the end-to-end management of the venue.

Key Responsibilities

1. Venue & Operational Leadership

  • Ensure the bar and food operation operate at peak efficiency, with strong execution of daily service, inventory control, and compliance.
  • Implement operational best practices to maximise revenue and optimise guest experience.
  • Own the P&L responsibility for the venue, ensuring profitability and financial health.
  • Oversee all licensing, health & safety, and compliance requirements.

2. People Leadership & Team Development

  • Build and lead a high-performance team, ensuring a strong culture of accountability, service excellence, and professional growth.
  • Own the recruitment, training, and performance management of the team.
  • Set clear performance expectations and KPIs for all team members.
  • Foster a culture of coaching and continuous development, ensuring high employee engagement and low turnover.

3. Financial & Commercial Performance

  • Develop and execute profitability strategies, focusing on revenue generation, cost control, and margin optimisation.
  • Oversee menu pricing, stock control, and cost management to drive bottom-line performance.
  • Monitor labour costs, ensuring efficient staffing models without compromising service.
  • Maximise sales per guest, table turnover, and upselling opportunities.

4. Guest Experience & Reputation Management

  • Ensure exceptional guest experiences by delivering consistent service standards.
  • Drive guest satisfaction and brand loyalty through personalised service and hospitality excellence.
  • Respond to guest feedback and online reviews, ensuring continuous improvement.
  • Implement brand standards and customer engagement strategies.

5. Sales & Business Development

  • Work with the sales and marketing team to drive promotions, events, and revenue growth strategies.
  • Identify local business partnerships and sponsorships to enhance venue exposure.
  • Develop weekly, monthly, and annual sales plans to drive footfall and engagement.
  • Innovate and introduce new ideas for increasing spend per head and maximising peak trade periods.

6. Compliance & Risk Management

  • Ensure the venue operates in line with licensing laws, food safety standards, and employment regulations.
  • Maintain all legal documentation and health & safety certifications.
  • Conduct regular audits to ensure operational compliance.
  • Handle incident management, security, and risk assessment to ensure a safe working environment.

What We’re Looking For

Proven experience as a General Manager in a high-volume bar and kitchen
Strong leadership skills with experience managing teams of 25+ employees.
Commercially astute, with experience managing P&L, cost control, and revenue growth.
Deep understanding of hospitality service standards, guest experience, and sales strategies.
Excellent problem-solving skills, able to act decisively and effectively under pressure.
A proactive, results-driven mindset, with a passion for hospitality excellence.
