Full job description

Fox Hotels Group is looking for a positive, capable and dependable person to join our small, independent team in Plymouth.

ABOUT FOX HOTELS GROUP

Fox Hotels Group is an independent Plymouth hospitality business. Our main sites are Fox House Studios, which offers 41 self-contained studio apartments in the city centre, and Fox on the Hoe, our collection of luxury waterfront hotel apartments. The group also includes the Barbican apartments.

THE OPPORTUNITY

This is a genuinely hands-on role. As part of a small team, everyone is expected to work together, turn their attention to whatever the day requires and contribute across both practical tasks and management responsibilities.

The role is designed for someone who wants to learn how a hotel business works from the inside out, developing skills across guest service, people coordination and day-to-day hotel operations.

WHAT YOU WILL LEARN AND DO

  • Help oversee the smooth day-to-day running of the properties.
  • Respond to guest enquiries and provide clear, friendly support before, during and after each stay.
  • Learn our booking and property-management systems, including reservations and guest communications.
  • Coordinate and support housekeeping, helping practically when needed and checking standards.
  • Assist with arrivals, departures, maintenance issues and the many details that create an excellent guest experience.
  • Take increasing responsibility as your knowledge and confidence grow.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

  • A natural commitment to making guests feel welcome, supported and well looked after.
  • A positive, dependable and organised approach, with the confidence to use your initiative, manage changing priorities and remain calm in a busy environment.
  • A genuine team player who communicates well and is willing to turn their hand to whatever the day requires.
  • A willingness to learn, listen to feedback and act on it as you develop into a capable hotel manager.
  • Previous experience in a hotel or hospitality setting would be helpful, but is not essential if you can demonstrate strong transferable skills.
  • Basic computer skills, together with the confidence to learn and use booking and property-management systems.
  • A full driving licence is preferable.

CONTRACT AND WORKING PATTERN

This is a permanent, full-time position, subject to a six-month probationary period.

Approximately 40 hours per week, including weekend, evening and bank-holiday working as required.

PAY

£13.50 per hour.

Please apply through Indeed with your CV and a short covering note.

Applications will be reviewed as they are received, and the vacancy will remain open until a suitable candidate is appointed. Early applications are therefore encouraged.
