ROLE OVERVIEW

The Retail Assistant is responsible for delivering exceptional customer service across the retail outlets & charging facilities at the GRIDSERVE Electric Forecourt(R).

The Retail Assistant will greet, serve and interact with customers, building positive relationships helping to promote repeat custom. Full training will be provided to ensure the highest standard of service can be delivered resulting in positive customer feedback and satisfaction evidenced through audit results, reviews and ratings.

The Electric Forecourt is one of the most technically advanced electric vehicle charging stations, powered by 100% renewable energy with a retail facility featuring a high-quality lounge for customers to use while their vehicles are charging. This also acts as an educational area, providing information about electric vehicles, solar energy generation and ecology.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Deliver excellent and memorable customer experiences by greeting customers, taking their orders and/or answering queries as required to meet and exceed their expectations.
  • Operate the till and process payments in line with company processes and procedures.
  • Fulfil orders by ensuring high quality hot drinks, cold drinks and food preparation in accordance with brand excellence standards.
  • Support customers with their electric vehicle charging needs as required
  • Resolve customer complaints where possible or escalate, as required.
  • Champion new customer and sales initiatives through demonstrations, setting up displays and promotional items and/or communicating current offers.
  • Stock merchandising and replenishment.
  • Maintain excellent standards of health, safety, cleanliness and organisation both internally and externally at the Electric Forecourt, in line with health and safety and brand standards.
  • Comply with all food safety and allergen related legislation, policies and processes.
  • Take responsibility for keeping up to date with and understanding all cascaded company and team specific information.
  • Utilise company learning platform to stay on top of all mandatory and development training.
  • Work a range of early/late shifts, weekends and bank holidays in line with the Forecourts operating hours including acting as a keyholder when required. (04:00-22:30)
  • Adhere to all company policies, procedures and business ethics codes including anti-bribery, environmental and quality management systems in compliance with ISO standards.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

Required Experience

  • Experience in a similar retail or customer service role

Required Skills and Abilities

  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Good communication and conflict resolution skills.
  • Strong social skills and able to build rapport with all types of people.
  • Reliability skills including time management and punctuality.
  • Ability to learn new and develop existing skills through dedicated and on the job training e.g. Safe, high-quality coffee and food preparation, H&S compliance and excellent customer service skills.
  • Ability to understand, and adhere to, cascaded company information.
  • Ability to use communication tools such as Microsoft Teams, Engage and Connect.
