Location: Across Barking & Dagenham, Havering, Redbridge, Newham and Waltham Forest
Hours: 40 Hours per Week
Contract: Permanent (Fixed-Term opportunities may also be available)
Working Pattern: Monday to Sunday on a rota basis

Operating across five London boroughs, our dedicated team of staff and volunteers share a commitment to delivering high-quality, person-centred services that make a real difference.

We are currently looking for caring, reliable and professional Drivers to join our Transport Team.

About the Role

You will be responsible for transporting service users safely and comfortably between their homes and community facilities. This role plays a vital part in helping vulnerable people remain independent and connected within their communities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Safely transport service users to and from their destinations.
  • Ensure all passengers are correctly secured using seat belts, wheelchair restraints and other safety equipment before every journey.
  • Provide assistance to service users when boarding and exiting vehicles.
  • Maintain the welfare, dignity and confidentiality of service users at all times.
  • Build positive working relationships with service users, carers and partner organisations.
  • Carry out routine vehicle safety and maintenance checks.
  • Keep vehicles clean, safe and hygienic.
  • Complete vehicle logs and required documentation accurately.
  • Comply with DABD policies, including Equal Opportunities and Health & Safety procedures.
  • Attend training and development activities as required.

About You

  • Able to respond quickly and appropriately in emergency situations, including vehicle evacuations

Desirable Skills and Experience

While not essential, applications are particularly welcomed from candidates who:

  • Hold a Vocational D1 driving licence
  • If you passed your driving test before 1 January 1997, your licence should show Category D101
  • Have previous minibus driving experience
  • Have experience working within a transport environment
  • Hold a MIDAS Certificate
  • Have an understanding of disability awareness and the impact of poor transport provision
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service - or willing to take DBS check
  • Are computer literate
