Full job description

We Make Food & Coffee That People Come Back For.

The Street Bakeshop is an award-winning artisan craft bakery in the heart of Hampshire.

We bake from scratch.
We use real ingredients.
We avoid chemical rubbish.

We make sourdough bread, pastries, cakes and doughnuts for retail and wholesale customers- food that people genuinely love. Food worth coming back for.

And we take our coffee just as seriously. We believe great food deserves great coffee.

Properly sourced.
Properly extracted.
Properly served.

But products alone aren’t enough. How we serve them matters just as much.

We believe service should be warm, sharp and genuinely helpful the kind that makes people feel welcome, valued and looked after. We’re not here to be average.

We Don’t Do “That’ll Do.”

At The Street Bakeshop,

We push standards.
We protect quality.
We care about how it tastes, how it looks, and how it makes people feel.

And we care just as much about how people feel when they walk through our door.

If it’s not F***ING AMAZING, we won’t sell it.
And if the service isn’t exceptional, we fix it. “Good enough” simply isn’t good enough.

We’re building something special - in the food, in the coffee, and in the way we treat people. And we’re just getting started.

The Role

We are looking for a confident, hands-on Front of House Assistant Manager to support the leadership of our bakeshop floor.

This is a key support role with real responsibility. You will help oversee the day-to-day operational performance of the shop - supporting service standards, protecting coffee quality, helping develop the team and contributing to strong commercial results.

You’ll lead from the floor, help set the tone for the business and ensure every customer experience reflects the quality of our brand.

Working closely with the Manager, you will support the delivery of strong performance, people development and operational standards.

What You’ll Own

Service & Standards

  • Helping maintain exceptional food and coffee quality
  • Ensuring coffee is consistently dialled in and served to specification
  • Upholding presentation and cleanliness standards
  • Creating a welcoming, community-focused environment
  • Supporting the handling of customer feedback and complaints professionally

Commercial Performance

  • Supporting the management of GP%, wage budgets and labour control
  • Monitoring KPIs including labour %, wastage and sales performance
  • Assisting with report analysis and identifying opportunities to grow revenue
  • Helping produce rotas aligned to forecasted sales
  • Supporting stock control and supplier ordering

Team Leadership

  • Supporting recruitment, onboarding and development of team members
  • Leading by example in attitude and professionalism
  • Helping deliver clear expectations, coaching and performance feedback
  • Contributing to a motivated, high-performing team culture
  • Supporting senior team members and helping maintain smooth operations in the manager’s absence

Compliance & Operations

  • Supporting compliance with HACCP, EHO and legal standards
  • Helping maintain audit readiness and documentation
  • Assisting with opening and closing procedures
  • Acting as keyholder when required and supporting site security

You’ll Thrive Here If…

You’re not just experienced - you take pride in standards.

You’ll bring:

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in a supervisory or assistant management role
  • A strong barista background and genuine passion for exceptional coffee
  • Experience using POS systems (Square preferred)
  • Good commercial awareness and understanding of performance metrics
  • High personal standards and strong attention to detail
  • A confident, approachable and community-focused leadership style
  • Reliability, integrity and consistency
  • A genuine passion for developing others

If you push standards rather than settle for “that’ll do,” you’ll fit right in.

THE SWEET STUFF

  • Extra holiday after four years’ service
  • Free hot drinks and staff food while working
  • 30% off food and drinks across all bakeries
  • Structured training and supplier learning sessions
  • Paid volunteering days with partner charities
  • Summer and Christmas company parties
  • Regular team socials
  • Pension scheme
  • Refer-a-friend bonus scheme
  • Fresh sourdough and treats

This role is about supporting a growing artisan brand, helping build a strong team and protecting standards that matter.

If you want to lead from the front and be part of something ambitious — we’d love to hear from you.

Send your CV and tell us what “f*ing amazing” means to you.**
