JOB DESCRIPTION:
Front of House Tearoom Assistant will be working within a small and friendly team alongside the Tearoom Managers to deliver excellent customer service. Your main duties will be within the tearoom/kitchen environment and within the kiosk welcoming customers.

HOURS OF WORK:
Required days: Mondays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays
10am - 5.00pm
*Must have flexibility and bank holiday work will be required

Responsibilities:

  • Welcoming customers and tour groups
  • Serving meals, snacks, and refreshments
  • Making hot drinks including barista-style coffee
  • Cash handling & cashing up
  • Clearing away tables

Skills Profile:

  • Have good verbal communication and customer service skills.
  • Have knowledge of food hygiene procedures and how to handle food safely.
  • Have a confident and friendly manner.
  • Understand safe working practices and health and safety legislation.
  • Understand all safety procedures relating to fire and security.
  • Be of clean and tidy appearance.
  • Be responsible, honest and reliable.
  • Be an effective team worker.

Holidays:
Holiday entitlement is pro rata based on number of hours worked. Holidays requests may not always be granted during school holidays and the busy periods in October, early November and December.

Past experience is preferred, with references.

PLACE OF WORK:
Thorp Perrow Arboretum, situated near the historic town of Bedale, covers 100 acres and has one of the finest collections of trees and shrubs in the country, alongside an adventure playground and Bird of Prey & Mammal Centre. The gardens are privately owned and open all year round. The tearoom serves a selection of seasonal hot and cold lunches and afternoon teas.
