Full job description

Hours: 11pm - 7am

At Skybound Therapies, we specialise in delivering multidisciplinary support to children and young adults with complex behavioral, emotional, and neurodevelopmental needs.

Following the successful launch of our Children’s Residential Home in April, we are looking to expand our night care team. Our mission is to provide safe, nurturing, and consistent care around the clock, ensuring our young residents feel safe, supported, and secure throughout the night.

We are seeking reliable and compassionate Night Behaviour Support Workers for waking night shifts. In this role, you will maintain a calm, secure, and supportive environment overnight. You will monitor the well-being of the young people, assist with bedtime and morning routines, manage overnight wakefulness or distress using positive behavior strategies, and complete essential overnight administrative and home maintenance tasks.

Key Responsibilities

  • Overnight Care & Safety: Conduct regular, non-intrusive safety and well-being checks throughout the night to ensure a restful and secure environment.
  • Bedtime & Morning Support: Assist young residents with evening wind-down routines and morning preparations, promoting healthy sleep hygiene and independence.
  • De-escalation & Emotional Support: Respond calmly and effectively if a young person wakes up distressed, applying individualized behavior support and trauma-informed techniques.
  • Handover & Record Keeping: Complete detailed nighttime logs, track sleep patterns, and deliver clear handovers to the incoming daytime team.
  • Home Maintenance: Perform light housekeeping, laundry, and preparation duties during quiet hours to ensure the home is clean and organized for the day ahead.

Key Requirements

  • Experience: Experience in night shifts or supporting children/young adults with complex needs, autism, or emotional difficulties in a residential or care setting is desirable.
  • Night Shift Suitability: Confident working waking nights, with strong self-motivation, high vigilance, and the ability to work independently while remaining alert.
  • Core Skills: Exceptional patience, calm temperament under pressure, and strong interpersonal skills.
  • Compliance: Enhanced DBS check and registration with Social Care Wales (or willingness to register upon employment).
  • Licensing: Valid UK driver’s license preferred.

What We Offer

  • Competitive Night Rates: Enhanced pay rates for waking night hours.
  • Consistent Shift Patterns: Structured rotas that help maintain a stable work-life balance.
  • Support & Training: Ongoing mentorship, comprehensive induction, and training in Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) and safeguarding.
  • Employee Benefits: Private medical insurance, Group Income Protection, Group Life Assurance and staff well-being programs.

Skybound Therapies is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. All appointments are subject to CIW regulations and safer recruitment processes.
