We have an exciting opportunity for a Healthcare Assistant to join our Primary Care team at HMP Winchester, a category B prison located in Winchester.

HMP Winchester is a busy remand prison with a capacity for around 658 males. We are recruiting for a Healthcare Assistant to support the wider healthcare team with tasks such as observations, managing minor injuries and health screenings. HMP Winchester offers free parking and its also close to the town centre for public transport links.

Hours

37.5 hours per week
3 x Long days
0730 - 2100
1.5 weekends in a 4 week rolling shift pattern.

Salary

This position is full time, you’ll receive an annual salary up to £31,789 per annum.

What you'll be doing

As a Healthcare Assistant, your responsibilities will vary. You will
  • Support the registered nurse in implementing an agreed plan of care in association with the patient and in accordance with instructions and training received whilst promoting safe patient care
  • Be willing to develop and apply new skills to maintain and enhance clinical service delivery.

Qualifications required

  • NVQ level 2/3 or equivalent in Health and Social Care
  • A non-judgmental and compassionate approach
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Good IT skills and IT literacy
  • Ability to work within a busy environment
  • Ability to work unsupervised whilst following policy and procedures

Although not essential ideal applicants would have experience in a hospital, community or prison environment
