THE OPPORTUNITY

This is a pivotal hire for Hybrid Electrical Solutions. As our Bid Manager, you will own the end-to-end tender process. From identifying opportunities through to submission, debrief, and a clean handover to delivery. You sit at the intersection of operations, commercial, and client relationships, and your work directly drives the pipeline that sustains our growth.

Reporting to the Operations Manager and working closely with our Projects PM, Security Systems Manager, and Maintenance Manager, you will produce bids that are commercially competitive, technically credible, and delivered on time.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Bid Leadership & Delivery

– Own the full bid lifecycle from opportunity identification through to submission and post-tender debrief

– Review tender documents, identify risks, and develop compliant, competitive responses

– Set and manage bid programmes, ensuring all internal contributors meet their deadlines

– Write, structure, and quality-assure bid content to a consistently high standard

– Coordinate and present bid review gates with the Operations Manager prior to submission

Estimating & Commercial

– Produce accurate, detailed cost estimates drawing on labour, materials, subcontractor, and overhead data

– Benchmark pricing against market rates and maintain a live understanding of Hybrid's cost base

– Identify value engineering opportunities and margin improvement strategies within bids

– Maintain a pricing tracker and lessons-learned log to continuously improve win rates

Stakeholder & Client Engagement

– Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, frameworks, and procurement contacts

– Attend pre-bid meetings, site visits, and post-tender interviews where required

– Represent Hybrid professionally in client-facing bid presentations and clarification meetings

– Liaise with the Operations Manager on strategic bid / no-bid decisions

Cross-Function Collaboration & Handover

– Manage a structured handover of all won bids to the Projects PM , no commercial or contractual detail lost

– Work with the Security Systems and Maintenance Managers to ensure technical input is accurate and costed

– Feed bid intelligence back into the business, client requirements, competitor activity, pricing trends

– Support the Operations Manager in identifying new framework and contract opportunities

WHAT YOU'LL BRING

Essential

– Proven experience in a bid management, estimating, or tendering role, ideally within electrical, mechanical, or security systems

– Strong commercial acumen with the ability to build and interrogate cost models

– Excellent written communication skills, clear, persuasive bid narrative that wins work

– Highly organised with the ability to manage multiple bids concurrently under deadline pressure

– Competent in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel); bid management or estimating software an advantage

– Confident working cross-functionally and influencing without direct authority

Desirable

– Experience bidding on highways, tunnels, infrastructure, or public-sector maintenance frameworks

– Understanding of NEC or JCT contract forms

– Experience of framework qualification submissions (PQQ / SQ)

– Knowledge of electrical systems, M&E, or security systems contracting
