The Opportunity

Are you an experienced Bicycle Mechanic or Cytech-certified technician looking for part-time workshop hours with guaranteed Saturday shifts?

We are an established, busy bicycle workshop seeking a skilled, self-motivated Bicycle Mechanic to join our team for 1 to 2 days per week (7 to 21 hours, including mandatory Saturdays).

In this role, you will handle everything from routine customer bicycle repairs and custom builds to renovating second-hand bikes for floor resale. Alongside technical wrenching, you will assist with workshop administration, phone enquiries, customer service, and inventory tracking. Key Responsibilities

• Bicycle Repairs & Servicing: Diagnose, service, and repair a wide range of customer bicycles (road, hybrid, MTB, e-bikes) to safety and industry standards.
• Refurbishment for Resale: Inspect, repair, and tune second-hand trade-in bicycles to prime condition for workshop resale.
• Customer Service & Front-of-House: Answer phone calls, respond to walk-in customer technical enquiries, advise on component upgrades, and provide accurate cost estimates.
• Workshop Administration & POS: Accurately record repair jobs, log part sales on the system, process customer payments, and track workshop consumables/stock levels.
• Maintain Workshop Standards: Keep bench areas, specialized tools, and customer pickup areas clean, organized, and compliant with safety guidelines.

Requirements

• Experience/Qualifications (ESSENTIAL): Cytech certification (Level 2/3 or equivalent) OR extensive practical experience working in or managing a commercial bicycle workshop.
• Technical Proficiency: Thorough understanding of hydraulic disc brakes, modern drivetrain setups (electronic and mechanical shifting), wheel truing, bearing replacements, and bottom bracket overhauls.
• Availability (ESSENTIAL): Must be available to work every Saturday without exception.
• Soft Skills: Excellent verbal communication, polite customer manner, meticulous record-keeping, and strong organizational skills.
