Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and reliable Refuse Collector to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for the collection and transportation of waste materials from residential and commercial areas. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills and mechanical knowledge, ensuring efficient operation of collection vehicles while adhering to safety protocols.

Duties

• Operate refuse collection vehicles, including vans and flatbed lorries, safely and efficiently.
• Collect waste from designated areas, ensuring all materials are gathered in accordance with local regulations.
• Perform routine checks on the vehicle to ensure it is in good working condition, reporting any mechanical issues as necessary.
• Communicate effectively with team members and the public regarding collection schedules and procedures.
• Maintain cleanliness of the vehicle and equipment used during operations.
• Assist in loading and unloading of waste materials at disposal sites.
• Follow all health and safety guidelines to ensure a safe working environment.

Requirements

• Valid driving licence with experience in operating commercial vehicles; experience as a van driver or delivery driver is advantageous.
• Strong mechanical knowledge to perform basic maintenance on collection vehicles.
• Excellent communication skills to interact with team members and the public effectively.
• Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
• Physical fitness to handle the demands of lifting and moving waste materials.
• Previous experience in warehouse or refuse collection roles is desirable but not essential.

Contract length: 12 weeks

Pay: Up to £12.21 per hour
