Quality Control Chemist

Esterchem Ltd, a family-owned company who specialise in the manufacture of organic chemicals (esters).

A vacancy has arisen for the position of Quality Control Chemist, reporting directly to the Laboratory Manager.

Working on a 4 on 4 off continental shift pattern (involving working days and nights) and liaising closely with the Production department, you will provide an analytical service to the company by:

· Ensuring the routine analysis of finished products, in-process samples and raw materials is carried out in an accurate and timely manner

. Performing routine testing on cooling towers systems and effluent wastewater treatment in line with environmental standards and permits.

· Carrying out calibrations of various laboratory equipment.

· Ensuring all records are kept and procedures followed in line with company ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001 standards.

· Carrying out Research & Development related tasks as directed by the Laboratory Manager.

The ideal candidate will be:

· Educated to (ideally) degree level in a relevant scientific discipline (A-Level, HNC / HND will be considered) - experience desirable but not essential as full training will be given.

· Able to work as an individual with minimal supervision.

· Be able to work on multiple projects at any given time.

· Have excellent communication skills.
