The actual location of this job is in Slough, United Kingdom. Join Lonza’s Biologics R&D team and play a pivotal role in shaping the digital future of laboratory science. This role sits at the intersection of science, data, and engineering, with a strong focus on owning and delivering laboratory informatics solutions (ELN, LIMS, SDMS) that enable scalable, high-quality scientific workflows. What you will do:

  • Lead the end-to-end implementation, configuration, and optimization of laboratory informatics systems (ELN, LIMS, SDMS) across R&D
  • Act as a system owner and subject matter expert, driving adoption and continuous improvement of lab informatics platforms
  • Partner closely with R&D scientists to translate experimental workflows into structured, scalable digital solutions
  • Design and implement data models, templates, metadata structures, and workflows aligned with FAIR data principles
  • Build and maintain integrations between lab systems, automation platforms, analytics tools, and cloud environments using APIs and middleware
  • Develop robust data flows to improve interoperability, reduce manual effort, and ensure high-quality data capture
  • Provide user training, documentation, and ongoing support to ensure successful system adoption
  • Contribute to digital architecture discussions and help shape the evolution of Lonza’s R&D data ecosystem

What we are looking for:

  • MSc (or equivalent) in Bioinformatics, Biology, Chemistry, Engineering, or a related field
  • Proven hands-on experience implementing or owning ELN, LIMS, or SDMS platforms in a pharma/biotech R&D environment
  • Alternatively, significant experience as a power user/end user of ELN/LIMS systems, with involvement in system configuration, optimization, or rollout
  • Strong understanding of scientific workflows and experimental data lifecycle management
  • Experience with data modelling, metadata standards, and FAIR data principles
  • Programming/scripting experience (Python, R, SQL) and experience integrating systems via APIs (REST, GraphQL)
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to work across scientific and technical teams
