Field Service Engineer

Location: Home Based | UK Wide
Salary: £40,000 - £50,000 Basic (DOE)

Our client is a leading manufacturer of specialist medical equipment and is looking to recruit an experienced Field Service Engineer to support customers across the UK.

This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer with a strong background servicing medical equipment who enjoys working autonomously while delivering exceptional customer support. The role involves maintaining a manageable portfolio of approximately 15-20 customer sites/machines, allowing you to provide a high level of service rather than being volume-driven.

The Role

Reporting to the Service Manager, you will be responsible for the installation, servicing, maintenance and repair of specialist medical equipment at customer sites nationwide. You will ensure equipment is operating safely and efficiently while building strong relationships with healthcare professionals and customers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance on specialist medical equipment.
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical faults.
  • Install, commission and validate new equipment.
  • Complete service documentation accurately and on time.
  • Ensure all work complies with relevant quality and safety standards.
  • Manage spare parts inventory and vehicle stock.
  • Provide technical support and customer training where required.
  • Develop strong working relationships with hospitals, laboratories and healthcare providers.

The Candidate

To be considered you will have:

  • Previous experience as a Field Service Engineer working on medical equipment (essential).
  • Strong mechanical and electrical fault-finding skills.
  • Experience installing, servicing and repairing complex electro-mechanical equipment.
  • Excellent customer-facing and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage your own schedule.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Willingness to travel throughout the UK with occasional overnight stays.

Package

  • £40,000 - £50,000 basic salary (dependent on experience)
  • Company vehicle
  • Laptop and mobile phone
  • Pension scheme
  • Holiday allowance
  • Ongoing manufacturer training and professional development
  • Long-term career progression within a growing organisation
