KPI Education is partnering with a thriving secondary school in Bushey, Hertfordshire, to recruit a motivated Science Technician for a September 2026 start. This is an excellent opportunity for a STEM graduate who wants to support high-quality science education while exploring a future career in teaching or the wider education sector.

Working as part of a friendly and experienced Science Department, you will play an essential role in ensuring practical lessons are delivered safely, efficiently, and to the highest standard across Biology, Chemistry, and Physics.

Your Responsibilities

As the school's Science Technician, you will:

  • Prepare laboratory equipment, apparatus, and materials for practical lessons.
  • Organise chemicals and scientific resources for experiments across Key Stages 3, 4, and 5.
  • Assist teaching staff during demonstrations and practical investigations where required.
  • Ensure laboratories remain clean, organised, and fully stocked.
  • Carry out routine maintenance of equipment and arrange repairs when necessary.
  • Monitor inventory levels and help source new laboratory supplies.
  • Maintain accurate records of chemicals, equipment, and consumables.
  • Adhere to laboratory health and safety procedures, including COSHH guidance.
  • Support the smooth delivery of practical assessments and examination activities.
  • Help create an inspiring and safe environment where students can develop confidence in practical science.

What We’re Looking For

  • A 2:1 degree or above in a STEM discipline such as Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Biomedical Science, Natural Sciences, Engineering, or a similar subject.
  • Strong organisational skills with excellent attention to detail.
  • Confidence managing equipment, resources, and competing priorities.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • A professional, dependable, and proactive attitude.
  • An interest in supporting young people and contributing to outstanding science education.
  • Previous laboratory, technical, tutoring, or educational experience is advantageous but not essential.
