Shnuggle is a vibrant and rapidly growing company based in Co. Down. We design clever baby products for modern parents and supply major retailers throughout the UK and Internationally.

Due to our continued expansion and increasing product development schedule, we are looking to recruit a Product development Engineer to efficiently plan and implement product development activities as part of the product development team.

As a Shnuggle NPD engineer, you will work creatively with the senior team, to take new product concepts from the early design phase through to product release.

You will be involved in the entire product development cycle and have the satisfaction of seeing your designs sold globally.

Reporting to the CEO, your core responsibilities will be:

• Developing products from concepts based on NPD briefs.
• Creating imagery to communicate and present concepts clearly.
• Researching suitable production materials and manufacturing techniques.
• Estimating costs of manufacture to ensure project is on-budget
• Risk analysis for products and determining which standards are applicable.
• Work with compliance and project manager to meet launch deadlines.
• Producing prototypes and testing to ensure designs meet required industry standards.
• Liaise with Far East factories to arrange sampling, production, QC.
• Developing ready-for-manufacture CAD.
• Improving or updating design of existing products.

Essential Requirements

• Graduate Degree in a Product Design or Engineering subject
• High proficiency in Solidworks (Solid and surface modeling)
• At least 2 years post-graduate experience in a similar role
• Good visual and verbal communication skills
• A strong technical knowledge of how things work
• Exceptional attention to detail
• Highly organised and capable of working to and managing deadlines
• Experience of problem solving in the NPD process
• Knowledge of the whole product development process
• Willingness to travel to visit factories in the far East

Desirable Skills

• Experience of using Adobe illustrator & photoshop
• Experience of managing your own projects
• Recent experience of designing and launching a product to market.

This role is based in our modern open plan office in Newtownards, and candidates should be within a commutable distance (BT23 4YH)

This role is supported by Enterprise Ireland and includes a partnership with a educational institute in the republic of Ireland, to support research projects.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: £30,000.00-£38,000.00 per year
