Full job description
About the Role
Community Medics play a key role in delivering safe, professional, and compassionate pre-hospital care at events across Greater Manchester. As part of our paid clinical team, you will provide first aid and emergency care in line with your qualification level, working alongside our Volunteer Community First Aiders and other responders (FREC 3 and above) to ensure high clinical standards and positive patient experiences.
This role is suited to qualified FREC 3 who are confident working in a community and event environment. You are responsible for maintaining your own clinical competence, qualifications, and Continuing Professional Development (CPD) in line with industry and regulatory standards.
Our Values
Community
We exist for the good and service of our community, ensuring our work supports local young people and those around them.
Care
We act with compassion, respect, and professionalism, making sure every young person feels safe and valued.
Growth
We inspire confidence, learning, and leadership at every level, from young people gaining new skills to volunteers developing their own capabilities.
Key Responsibilities
The responsibilities below reflect the typical scope of the Community Medics role. You will work within your level of qualification, scope of practice, and clinical governance framework.
Clinical Care and Event Delivery
- Conduct patient assessments, provide treatment, and escalate or refer patients appropriately.
- Participate in patient handovers to ambulance services or higher-level clinicians when required.
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation and incident records.
- Contribute to creating a calm, professional, and reassuring environment for patients and event attendees.
Community Engagement
- Represent Community Medics professionally when engaging with event organisers and the public.
- Support public-facing activities such as CPR demonstrations or first aid awareness, where appropriate.
- Act as a positive role model for volunteers and young people involved in community programmes.
Team & Operational Support
- Work collaboratively with other clinicians, volunteers, and operational staff to ensure smooth event delivery.
- Assist with event set-up and pack-down, including preparing and maintaining a safe clinical area.
- Carry out equipment checks, restocking, and vehicle preparation in line with operational procedures.
- Follow all clinical governance, safeguarding, health & safety, and organisational policies.
What You’ll Bring
- A recognised first aid or pre-hospital care qualification (e.g. FREC 3 or above, or equivalent).
- Current registration or certification relevant to your qualification.
- Commitment to maintaining your own clinical competence, revalidation, and CPD.
- A calm, professional, and patient-centred approach to care.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Confidence working independently within your scope of practice.
- A strong understanding of safeguarding, professionalism, and duty of care.
Please note: We do not provide initial clinical training for this role.
What We Provide
- Paid clinical work at community and event-based deployments.
- Access to appropriate clinical equipment and uniform.
- Clear clinical governance, operational guidance, and organisational support.
- Opportunities to work alongside experienced clinicians in a supportive team environment.
- Reimbursement of agreed out-of-pocket expenses where applicable.
Screening Requirements
- Enhanced DBS check
- Two professional references
- Evidence of current qualification and insurance (where applicable)
- Completion of organisational induction, safeguarding, and mandatory compliance training
- Ongoing compliance with CPD and clinical governance requirements
Time Commitment
- Flexible, event-based work depending on availability and service demand.
- Opportunities for additional shifts and community engagement activities.
Why This Role Matters
Community Medics are often the first clinicians members of the public encounter when they need help. Your expertise and professionalism ensure events are safer, patient care is delivered to a high standard, and our organisation maintains trust within the community.
By bringing your skills to Community Medics, you help strengthen local resilience, support volunteers, and deliver care that genuinely makes a difference across Greater Manchester.
Pay: £15.00 per hour
Expected hours: 0.1 – 30.0 per week
