Full job description
Bioarchitech is a small biotechnology company developing cancer immunotherapies based on oncolytic viruses and self-amplifying RNA (saRNA) technologies. We are seeking a Senior Scientist with in vivo cancer model experience to drive the characterisation, and evaluation of our immunotherapies. This is an opportunity to work in a very small team and therefore have exposure to many aspects of a small biotech company. Reporting directly to Head of Platform Development and working closely within a small R&D team, you'll play a key role in advancing our preclinical programmes towards clinical trials. You will also have the opportunity to oversee contract research organisations (CROs) that conduct in vivo studies of our immunotherapy candidates.
You will have a doctorate degree (or equivalent experience) in immunology or related biological science. The role is laboratory-based, and it is essential that you have been a PIL holder for at least 3 years, it is highly desirable if you have conducted surgical procedures with recovery. Experience in using immunotherapy models of cancer would be desirable. The role will be an equal mix of in vitro and in vivo work. You will keep careful and accurate records in an electronic notebook so that your results may be published in the future and be referenced by regulatory authorities. All applicants must provide a CV including contact details for at least two referees which we will only contact if shortlisted for interview. The post will be for a Senior Scientist or Scientist depending on experience.
The company is located at the Wood Centre for Innovation, Headington, Oxford. Access by public transport or cycle is strongly encouraged as car parking is not readily available.
Benefits: 5% of salary employer pension contribution. 25 days holiday per year + bank holidays, company share option scheme, cycle to work scheme.

- At least 3 years’ experience with mammalian cell culture and immunological assays. Preferably have experience of working with viruses
- Proven ability to design, organise, and run research projects independently
Tasks and Responsibilities:
- To design, plan and carry out experimental research into testing of recombinant vaccinia virus and saRNA, including in vitro and in vivo experiments.
- To oversee contract research organisations conducting in vivo experiments from study design through data interpretation.
- To perform common laboratory techniques including cellular assays, RNA or DNA purification, PCR, qPCR, ELISA, ELISpot, Incucyte imaging, basic microscopy, flow cytometry.

- To develop detailed written protocols suitable for transfer to contract research organisations and contract manufacturing organisations.
- To participate in and prepare presentations for scientific meetings.
