Senior Microbiologist

Pharmaceutical Manufacturing | GMP | Analytical Services

Location: Leicester

A well-established pharmaceutical manufacturer is looking for a Senior Microbiologist to join its Analytical Services team. This is a hands-on role supporting the testing, release, and validation of sterile and non-sterile medicines within a GMP environment, offering a meaningful role in safeguarding product quality and patient safety, a stable quality-focussed setting.

About the Role

  • Perform microbiological testing of sterile and non-sterile products (in-process and finished)
  • Sterility testing, bioburden, endotoxin, and specified organism testing
  • Environmental and facility monitoring of production areas
  • Support validation activities, including media fills and method validation
  • Investigate out-of-specification results and liaise with QA
  • Prepare and review SOPs and laboratory documentation
  • Coordinate testing schedules and cross-functional activities
  • Deputise for the Microbiology Team Leader when required

About You

Typically, you will have several years’ experience in pharmaceutical microbiology and a meticulous approach to quality and compliance.

  • Strong experience in a GMP pharmaceutical microbiology laboratory
  • Solid knowledge of sterile testing and environmental monitoring
  • Experience with investigations and validation work
  • Highly organised, detail-focused, and able to meet deadlines
  • Confident communicator who works well across teams
