The new role holder can be located across all our office locations in the UK
Are you ready to lead complex toxicology and regulatory projects that shape safer products?
Are you motivated to provide strategic, science-based advice that helps clients meet regulatory and safety challenges?
Are you eager to drive growth in toxicology services and expand a client base through expert consultancy and stakeholder engagement?
If this sounds like you, or you’re curious to learn more, then this role could be the perfect opportunity. Join our Health Science department as our new Senior Regulatory Toxicologist and work with us to close the gap to a sustainable future.
Your new role
As our new Senior Regulatory Toxicologist, you will become part of a growing team of Product Safety and Stewardship specialists, providing strategic scientific and regulatory support to clients across multiple sectors, including chemicals, food and feed, consumer products, food contact materials, cosmetics, packaging, biocides and emerging technologies.
You will work closely with colleagues across Ramboll's global network, contributing technical excellence, mentoring team members and helping to shape the future growth and direction of our toxicology services. We will consider remote/hybrid working as an option with a willingness to travel for internal and external meetings. Ramboll operates a flexible working policy and offers the opportunity to work within an exciting team of experts who respect each other and work towards a common goal.
Your key responsibilities will be:
- Lead and deliver complex toxicology, product safety and regulatory projects for UK and international clients, managing multidisciplinary teams to ensure technical quality, financial performance and client satisfaction.
- Provide strategic scientific and regulatory advice across chemicals, consumer products, food/feed ingredients and packaging, cosmetics and biocides.
- Design, manage and evaluate toxicological programmes and assessments (study review, WoE, read‑across, NAMs, QSAR, risk assessments) and prepare/peer‑review technical reports, regulatory submissions.
- Support clients with practical regulatory compliance and product safety strategies and identify opportunities to grow Ramboll’s services in existing and new markets.
- Lead business development and client engagement activities (proposals, scoping, conferences), represent Ramboll externally, and keep up to date with scientific and regulatory developments.
- Develop consultants within the Health Sciences team.
About you
From the moment you join Ramboll, we will support your personal and professional development so that you grow with the company. For this role, we believe your starting point is:
- Degree in toxicology, chemistry, biology, pharmacology or related field; an advanced qualification (MSc/PhD) would be beneficial
- Extensive experience in regulatory toxicology, product safety, risk assessment or related consulting.
- Strong knowledge of UK, EU and international regulatory frameworks for chemicals, food/feed, food contact materials, consumer products and/or biocides
- Experience preparing and reviewing technical/regulatory documentation and managing client relationships and complex projects.
- Experience in business development (proposals, client engagement).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and experience mentoring/coaching technical staff.
- Familiarity with read-across, QSAR, NAMs and modern risk assessment frameworks.
- An European Registered Toxicologist (ERT) status would be of advantage
Bring scientific excellence and commercial acumen to the team, and build trusted relationships with clients and colleagues. Collaborate across disciplines, sectors and geographies, and communicate complex science clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences — confidently influencing senior stakeholders. Be proactive, entrepreneurial and client-focused, with exceptional attention to detail and strong project management and organisational skills. Work independently while developing others, identify and capture new opportunities, win work and consistently deliver high‑quality outcomes.
What we can offer you
- Commitment to your development
- Leaders guided by our Leadership Principles
- A culture that welcomes you as the unique person you are
- Inspiration from colleagues, clients, and projects
- The long-term thinking of a foundation-owned company
- Flexible work environment
- 27 days annual leave plus bank holidays
- Matched pension contributions
- Private medical cover and life assurance
