About the Role

Pharmaron Cramlington is looking for a Scientist to join our Analytical Quality Control team supporting late-stage development and commercial API programmes.

This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career scientist or someone with a few years of industry experience who is looking to build their expertise within a GMP-regulated analytical laboratory. You will gain hands-on experience supporting a wide range of analytical activities, including batch release testing, method development, validation and routine GMP analysis, while working alongside experienced scientists in a collaborative and supportive environment.

We are looking for someone who is curious, proactive and eager to learn, with a strong technical foundation in analytical chemistry and a genuine interest in developing their career within the pharmaceutical industry. Key roles and responsibilities:

• Perform analytical testing to support batch release, development and scale-up activities using a range of analytical techniques and instrumentation.
• Generate accurate, reliable and timely analytical data in line with GMP requirements.
• Assist with method development, method transfer and method validation activities under appropriate guidance.
• Interpret analytical data, investigate unexpected results and support follow-up activities where required.
• Maintain clear, accurate and GMP-compliant laboratory documentation.
• Contribute to laboratory housekeeping, equipment maintenance and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Collaborate effectively with colleagues across Analytical QC and other site functions.

Requirements:

• BSc or MSc in Analytical Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Chemistry or a related scientific discipline.
• Experience within an analytical laboratory environment, gained through industry, postgraduate research, placements or graduate employment.
• Practical experience using HPLC is essential.
• Experience using GC would be advantageous.
• Exposure to method development, method validation or analytical troubleshooting would be beneficial but is not essential.
• Understanding of GMP principles or previous experience working in a regulated laboratory environment is preferred.
• Strong attention to detail, good organisational skills and a willingness to learn.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

Our Cramlington site, just north of Newcastle, has an established history of cGMP manufacturing services for an array of Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (API), ranging from pilot scale to commercial metric ton scale. The Cramlington Site has more than 100 cubic meters reactor commercial capacity and has been inspected and approved by the MHRA, FDA and other regulatory authorities. The site operates from small scale in the laboratory through to large manufacturing scale. It also offers chemistry and analytical development service.
