About the Role

Tangerine Group is looking for an experienced and innovative Senior Product Development Scientist to join our Research & Development team.

This is an exciting opportunity to take a leading role in New Product Development (NPD) and Existing Product Development (EPD) projects, guiding products from initial concept through to commercial launch. You will work cross functionally with internal teams, customers, suppliers and industry experts to deliver scientifically robust and commercially successful solutions.

Key Responsibilities

Research & Innovation

  • Research new ingredients, technologies and packaging solutions to support future product development opportunities.

  • Monitor industry developments, emerging trends and market opportunities to help shape innovation strategy.

  • Engage with customers, key opinion leaders and industry stakeholders throughout the development process.

Project Management

  • Lead NPD and EPD projects from concept through to launch, ensuring delivery against agreed timelines and objectives.

  • Manage project costs, resources and stakeholder expectations.

  • Lead clinical trial activities, including protocol development, execution, data analysis and reporting.

  • Coordinate capital equipment (CapEx) projects and support implementation activities.

Product Development

  • Develop and formulate products within the R&D laboratory using both existing and innovative techniques.

  • Transfer products from laboratory development through to manufacturing, including pilot-scale trials and process validation.

  • Write and maintain technical documentation including specifications, manufacturing records, stability protocols and technical reports.

  • Conduct stability studies and maintain accurate laboratory records.

Operational Support

  • Provide technical expertise to support manufacturing operations and troubleshoot production issues.

  • Lead root-cause investigations and implement corrective actions where required.

  • Support QA/QC investigations and continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Work closely with suppliers and procurement teams on technical assessments, supplier approvals and equipment sourcing.

Leadership & Collaboration

  • Coach and mentor members of the R&D team.

  • Provide technical support to veterinary advisors and commercial teams.

  • Present technical information at meetings, industry events and customer-facing activities when required.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • A Bachelor's degree (minimum 2:1) or equivalent qualification in a science-related discipline.

  • A minimum of three years' experience in product development.

  • Strong research and analytical skills with the ability to interpret and communicate complex scientific data.

  • Proven project management experience.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.

  • High levels of accuracy, organisation and attention to detail.

What We're Looking For

We are seeking someone who is:

  • Innovative and commercially aware.

  • Collaborative and able to build strong working relationships.

  • Adaptable and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.

  • Professional, accountable and driven to deliver results.

  • Passionate about scientific excellence and continuous improvement.
