The Role
We’re looking for a Lab Technician who’s excited to bring their skills and ideas to the table. In this role, you’ll work within the quality team, contributing to the smooth running of the department by providing precise, reliable analytical data that supports operational decisions and ensures product quality.
What You’ll Be Doing
Laboratory Preparation & Analysis
- Carry out general laboratory preparation and analytical testing, including propagations.
- Perform analytical, packaging, and microbiological sampling in line with the testing schedule.
- Apply laboratory techniques to help ensure product quality is consistent and meets required standards.
- Prepare media, equipment, and brewery ingredients as required for analysis.
Data Recording, Reporting & Interpretation
- Record and report results accurately, escalating when values fall outside defined limits.
- Interpret analytical data to identify trends or deviations, informing relevant managers when required.
- Conduct routine calibration and verification of laboratory equipment to ensure accuracy of results.
Quality Assurance, HACCP & CCP Responsibilities
- Support the site HACCP system by providing accurate analytical data and participating in verifications or checks relating to food‑safety control measures.
- Monitor, verify, and document Critical Control Points (CCPs) associated with laboratory testing, escalating deviations immediately and ensuring full traceability.
- Play an integral role in verifying sample quality throughout the brewing process and carbonated soft‑drink production by operating a range of analytical instruments, including spectroscopy and gas chromatography systems.
- Execute and monitor tasks related to Quality, Food Safety, and Food Defence within assigned work areas.
Housekeeping & Compliance
- Maintain high standards of housekeeping to support a clean, safe, and audit‑ready laboratory environment.
- Follow all SOPs, good laboratory practice (GLP), and safety procedures including chemical, equipment, and general laboratory controls.
What We’re Looking For
Experience
- Ideally 2 years’ experience working in a laboratory environment with a good understanding of workplace Health & Safety regulations; however, this can be an entry‑level role for candidates with the right qualifications and behavioural attributes.
- Practical experience handling hazardous chemicals, specialist gases, laboratory apparatus, and analytical instruments.
- Experience working different shift patterns is desirable.
- Experience within soft‑drinks or beverage production (ingredients, preparation), canning lines, or keg plants is desirable.

- Proactive problem‑solver with the ability to find practical solutions to technical challenges.
- Organised and able to manage time effectively, prioritise multiple samples, and multitask in a fast‑paced laboratory environment.
- Demonstrates a strong awareness of safety, accuracy, and compliance in all laboratory activities.
Functional Capabilities
- Knowledge or experience in one or more of the following is desirable:
- LIMS or equivalent laboratory information systems
- Microscopy
- GC/LC analysis
- Chemical analytical techniques
- Competent in working safely with chemicals, gases, and laboratory equipment.
- Capable of following SOPs, quality procedures, and analytical methods precisely.

- Working Hours : 39 hours across 3 shifts (6am-2pm, 2pm-10pm, 10pm-6am)
