We’re looking for a Specialist Biomedical Scientist to join our Histology team at HCA Laboratories, based in Huntingdon. You’ll be joining a well-established service with over 35 years of experience delivering high-quality diagnostic pathology across HCA Healthcare UK. Our laboratories support a wide range of services including acute care, IVF, GP referrals, health screening, and insurance, all underpinned by modern equipment, strong quality standards, and a shared commitment to patient care. Here, you’ll be part of a team where your expertise is recognised, your development is supported, and your contribution genuinely matters.
As a Specialist Biomedical Scientist within Histopathology, you’ll play an important role in delivering a reliable and efficient diagnostic service. Working alongside experienced colleagues, you’ll contribute to maintaining high technical standards while supporting the ongoing development of the service. Your day-to-day work will involve a broad range of histology techniques alongside quality assurance, service improvement, and team support. This is an environment where collaboration is key, and where you’ll have the opportunity to develop your skills further while helping to guide and mentor others in the team.

What you’ll do:
- Support the day-to-day organisation and delivery of the histopathology service, ensuring efficiency and consistency
- Perform independent troubleshooting and investigations to maintain service quality
- Contribute to quality control and assurance processes in line with ISO 15189:2022 and UKAS standards
- Work closely with senior colleagues to maintain workflows, resources, and overall service performance
- Support and mentor junior colleagues and new starters, contributing to training and competency development
What you’ll bring:
- BSc in Biomedical Science
- HCPC registration as a Biomedical Scientist
- Diploma of Specialist Practice or equivalent
- Proven experience within a histology laboratory
- Strong competency across routine histology techniques
