Role Overview:

The Head of Logistics is responsible for overseeing all warehouse operations, ensuring efficient inventory management, distribution, safety compliance, and team leadership. This role drives operational excellence, cost control, productivity, and customer satisfaction while maintaining a safe and organized working environment.

Roles and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

1. Operations Management

• A professional business appearance is always required. Attire should reflect the company’s standards and be appropriate for client interactions and a professional workplace setting.
• Bring a high level of energy, initiative, and enthusiasm for their work.
• Oversee daily warehouse operations including receiving, storage, picking, packing, QA and shipping
• Ensure on-time and accurate order fulfilment
• Optimise warehouse layout and workflows for maximum efficiency
• Implement and monitor KPIs (productivity, accuracy, turnaround time, etc.)
• Develop, train and enforce standard operating procedures (SOPs)
• Collaborate with senior management team in the development and delivery of key operational strategy
• Manage and drive efficient use of internal fleet
• Utilise data and Software to drive decisions and change business processes to the benefit of the site
• Define roles and responsibilities for the Transport department including planning, compliance, and delivery
• Ensure compliance with all relevant transport legislation is maintained
• Ensure we have the right level of driver resource available for the work required

2. Inventory Control

• Maintain accurate inventory records and conduct regular cycle counts
• Minimise shrinkage, damage, and obsolescence
• Coordinate with procurement and supply chain teams to ensure proper stock levels
• Utilise warehouse management systems (WMS) effectively

3. Team Leadership & Development

• Hire, train, supervise, evaluate and build warehouse colleagues and managers
• Promote a culture of accountability, safety, and continuous improvement
• Schedule labour effectively to meet business demands
• Conduct performance reviews and provide coaching
• Develop and drive colleague engagement and effective communication
• Implement and monitor KPIs (absence, LTO, etc.)

4. Safety & Compliance

• Ensure H&S compliance and other regulatory requirements
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment
• Lead safety meetings and training programs
• Investigate incidents and implement corrective actions
• Uphold organisation policies and standards, ensuring legislative regulations are followed
• Ensure full legal compliance across warehouse and transport operations

5. Budget & Financial Oversight

• Manage warehouse and transport operating budgets
• Control labour, equipment, and supply costs
• Identify cost-saving opportunities
• Report operational performance metrics to senior leadership
• Deliver key budgetary performance goals and long-term operational plans that maintain and expand the site’s operational abilities.

Skills:

• Proven experience (2 years) as a General Manager or in a similar role within a warehouse and transport environment.
• Strong knowledge of warehouse operations, inventory management, and logistics.
• Excellent leadership and managerial skills with the ability to motivate and manage a diverse team.
• Proficiency in using warehouse management software and MS Office applications.
• Good understanding of health and safety regulations.
• Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
• A degree in logistics, supply chain management, or a related field is preferred.
