Overview

We are looking for a hardworking and reliable General Boat Yard Worker to join our team. This is a hands-on role, customer facing, involving the maintenance, movement, and preparation of canal boats. The ideal candidate will be physically fit, safety-conscious, and willing to work outdoors in all weather conditions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with launching and moving boats within the yard.
  • Carry out basic boat maintenance tasks, cleaning, sanding, painting, crane banksman and possibly welding.
  • Operate yard equipment such as forklifts, crane, high powered pressure washer etc (training provided where necessary).
  • Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the boat yard and workshop areas.
  • Support with repairs and servicing work.
  • Handle tools, materials, and equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Follow all health and safety procedures.
  • Assist customers and team members as required.

Requirements

  • Previous experience in a boat yard, marina, construction, or similar manual labour environment is preferred but not essential.
  • Physically fit and able to lift heavy objects and work outdoors.
  • Strong work ethic, reliability, and punctuality is essential.
  • Ability to work well as part of a team and follow instructions.
  • Basic mechanical or maintenance skills are an advantage.
  • Forklift or machinery operation experience is beneficial.
  • Valid driving licence preferred but not essential.
