Job Description: Senior Client Service Accountant

Position Overview:

Reporting to the Office Manager/Client Partner, the successful candidate will be a senior member of the client servicing team, supporting the delivery of excellent client service to a diverse portfolio of Directors, Private Clients, Sole Traders, Partnerships, and Limited Companies. This includes overseeing the production of accounts, PAYE, VAT returns, Corporation Tax, Bookkeeping, and Self-Assessment tax returns.

Client Base:

The client base consists of owner-managed SME businesses, associated directors, partners, and private clients, with typical client turnovers ranging from £50k to £500k.

Career Progression:

The successful candidate will demonstrate personal drive, desire, aptitude, and ability to assume additional responsibilities and be ready for promotion to Office Manager/Client Partner within 2-3 years, with potential to become an equity partner in a successful, growing, and dynamic, multi-office firm.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Produce/oversee production of financial accounts for Limited Companies.
  • Manage Sole Trader and Individual Personal Tax Self-Assessment Tax returns.
  • Ensure client service level agreements are met.
  • Job tracking and reporting using available and custom reports.
  • Manage, organise, and update relevant data using database applications.
  • Handle Inbound Leads, updating and tracking the lead system.
  • Maintain regular, consistent, and professional attendance and punctuality.
  • Adhere to health and safety procedures.
  • Maintain CPD requirements through the TaxAssist Academy and professional associations.

General Job Standards & Responsibilities:

  • Quality of Work: Ensure accuracy, thoroughness, and completeness of assignments using standard work papers/templates, which are ready for review.
  • Productivity: Complete assignments within budgeted time and costs, always checking agreed client “Record Quality” before work commences.
  • Client Development & Satisfaction: Ensure high client satisfaction, promptly address concerns/issues, and identify opportunities to broaden services.
  • Teamwork and Communication: Be a positive and effective team player, respectfully treating colleagues and communicating issues or problems as necessary.
  • Administration: Check fees, raise invoices on time, follow up on unpaid debts, and maintain accurate time records.

Person Specification & Skills Requirements:

  • ACA or ACCA qualified/qualifying in the next 6 months, with a minimum of 3 years broad accountancy practice experience.
  • Demonstrated personal drive, desire, aptitude, and ability to assume additional responsibilities, with readiness for promotion to senior management within 2-3 years.
  • Good working knowledge of Practice Management systems and bookkeeping systems (e.g., QuickBooks, Xero, Dext).
  • Ability to market, proactively develop client relationships, and convert client prospects.
  • Driven and results-focused.
  • Friendly, open personality with excellent interpersonal and client service skills.
  • Enjoys working as part of a dynamic team.
  • Excellent Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel skills.
