TaxAssist Accountants are the largest network of accountants, currently working from over 300 locations throughout the UK. We are a Times top 25 accountancy company which is owned by the franchisees and managers.

We focus our accountancy skills specifically on small business and individual taxpayers to over 80,000 clients. We specialise in providing accountancy services, tax returns, payroll, bookkeeping, tax savings, and tax advice to our clients - Sole Traders, Partnerships, Limited Companies and Personal Taxpayers. We have established processes in place, along with access to excellent ongoing training and technical support in all aspects of the role. We focus on utilising technology and enjoy using cutting edge apps and cloud-based software to better service our clients.

As we continue to expand, we are looking for a highly organized and proactive Practice Administrator/Part-time Accountant on a part-time basis to join our team at our Chesham office and play a key role in ensuring smooth day-to-day operations.

As a Practice Administrator, you will be at the heart of our practice, supporting both clients and the team to ensure efficient workflow and seamless client onboarding and management. Your ability to manage multiple tasks, embrace technology, and maintain strong organizational processes will be vital in helping us continuously improve and support business growth. Additionally, you will provide direct support to the Director.

The role is office based and we are looking for 3-4 full working days (there is some flexibility available on which days).

THE ROLE

The key duties of this role are as follows:

Customer Service & Client Management

  • Manage and streamline the onboarding process, ensuring all documentation and compliance requirements are met.
  • Payroll Duties – To complete weekly/monthly payroll for clients. Produce employee and employer payslips, and RTI to HMRC. Liaise with clients to resolve queries and chase to meet deadlines. Pensions submissions to Pension providers.
  • Provide excellent face to face customer service and through email, phone & CRM systems
  • Follow up with new prospects / clients
  • Prepare engagement letters, agreements & proposals

Organisational Support

  • Supporting continuous development of administrative systems/processes to drive efficiencies and automate where possible
  • Manage principle accountants’ emails, prioritising messages and responding to client queries in a professional manner.
  • Oversee the director’s calendar, scheduling appointments and ensuring efficient time management.
  • Respond to basic client queries, including financial; providing accurate and timely information.
  • Maintain and organise client records, files, and documentation in a consistent and universal format.
  • Support workflow management across the team, ensuring tasks are assigned, tracked, and completed on time via our client portal.
  • Creation of workflows
  • Running weekly and monthly payroll
  • Assist with basic bookkeeping

General Support:

  • Provide ad hoc administrative support and assistance with special projects as needed.
  • Liaise with clients and team members to facilitate smooth communication and task completion.
  • Other business ad-hoc duties as requested

IDEAL CANDIDATE EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • A minimum of 5 GCSE’s including Mathematics and English Language, grade C/grade 5
  • Strong command of the English language
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with a professional and approachable tone.
  • Payroll experience
  • Proven experience in administrative and workflow management will be advantageous
  • Experience of PA support to senior management (desirable)
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Experience with task management or project management tools is highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with social media platforms and content creation tools

You must have a “can do” attitude and be able to work independently with appropriate support. You should be proactive, with a problem-solving attitude. You will be confident in engaging with clients to build a rapport and offer solutions and direction.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: From £15.00 per hour

Expected hours: 22.5 – 28 per week
