Full job description

McKinlay Kidd is an award-winning domestic travel business and an employee owned company. Established for 21 years, we offer special-experience and tailor-made holidays throughout Scotland, Ireland, England, Wales and the Channel Islands, from road trips to small group rail tours. We are based in an office in a landmark building in central Glasgow.

We pride ourselves on personal service, with a strong focus on customer satisfaction. Our customers come from the UK and abroad – they are well-travelled and discerning.

McKinlay Kidd recently won “Best Specialist Tour Operator” at the prestigious Telegraph Travel Awards. We offer tailormade and experience-led holidays throughout Scotland, Ireland, England and Wales, from road trips to small group rail tours.

Our customers are predominantly older, well-educated and well-travelled couples from both the UK and overseas. They expect great service and authentic holiday experiences. Many of them return to us again and again.

We pride ourselves on personal service and every member of our team actively contributes to the company’s success. When it gets busy, we all muck-in, regardless of job title.

McKinlay Kidd has won numerous awards over many years due to our high levels of customer satisfaction.

The Role

This is an excellent opportunity for a full-time Finance Executive with Accounts Payable experience to join our team.

After several years’ of growth, we are investing in improvements to our finance systems and processes, and in this role you would have an exciting opportunity to help develop these new ways of working. As such, you will be a highly numerate, organised team player who is comfortable working with large volumes and energised by resolving queries promptly and accurately.

You should have an understanding of bookkeeping, but finance experience within the travel industry is not an absolute requirement. Likewise, past experience with Xero, or a similar cloud-based accounting system, will be beneficial but not essential.

You will be responsible for:

  • Processing supplier payments in line with terms of business
  • Monitor overdue balance payments and trouble shoot as required
  • Handle all travel agent invoicing, payment and reporting
  • Monitor and problem solve low margin bookings
  • Log corporate card payments to suppliers and process customer refunds
  • Champion systems fault resolution and improvement projects with the Operations Manager
  • Oversee the accurate set up of inventory and pricing onto our booking system
  • Work with and support the Finance Director in setting up new systems, reconciliation of accounts, provide the information needed to produce management accounts and idea generation.

The involvement in so much of the finance operations means that this role offers career progression with a clear route to Finance Manager for the right candidate.

This is a full time, permanent position based on a 37.5 hour working week within our office Monday to Friday opening hours. Occasional overtime may be necessary at peak times.

Once settled in, you will also take your turn to cover the 24/7 duty rota for customers on holiday. Our office is based in central Glasgow,.

We operate an annual-wide bonus and encourage and facilitate team members to visit and experience our destinations and product. Benefits includes company pension.
