A business based on the outskirts of Scarborough is currently recruiting for an Accounts Assistant to join their team. The successful Accounts Assistant will receive a salary of up to circa £30,000 based on experience (which can be flexible for the right individual) as well as generous annual leave, free parking, attractive 35-hour week working hours, plus other benefits. This business boasts excellent culture and values, as well as offers the opportunity to learn and develop within the role. This role can be done either full-time or part-time, from 3 to 5 days a week, with working hours 9am to 5pm.

Working closely within the Finance Team and wider business, you will be responsible for day-to-day finance, including bookkeeping, inter-company accounts and other duties.

Key responsibilities for the Accounts Assistant will include:
  • Preparation of weekly banking
  • Petty cash management
  • Daily recording of direct bank transactions
  • Purchase Ledger data entry
  • Supplier statement reconciliations
  • Preparation of payment runs and dealing with supplier enquiries
  • Credit control
  • Monthly bank and balance sheet reconciliations
  • Raising sales invoices on request
  • Tasks will also include monthly bank transfers and posting journals, annual payroll year end, etc.
  • General finance responsibilities, as directed and required
  • Ad hoc office duties when needed
To be successful in this Accounts Assistant opportunity you must:

  • Have previous experience in a similar finance position with experience in Purchase Ledger, Sales Ledger and ideally Payroll
  • Be able to work on your own initiative, as well as part of a small team
  • Have knowledge of using accountancy software such as Xero, Sage, Quickbooks, etc. with the capability to be able to learn new systems and processes quickly
  • Be confident in using Excel and creating forecasting and projections
  • Be a good communicator who is able to form effective working relationships with both internal and external contacts
We would be keen to speak with individuals who are currently in a Finance Officer, Finance Assistant, Accounts Admin, Finance Administrator, Assistant Accountant or Bookkeeper role who are looking for a new challenge. This role would also suit an individual who has studied or is currently studying their AAT qualification.

This role is easily commutable via car from Scarborough, Pickering, Malton and surrounding areas. This role is on a public transport route and free parking is available.
